“Capitalism is inherently evil because it’s based on greed "

You're quite right, totally incorrect comparison. The USA is arguably the richest, most powerful nation on Earth and totally independant of foreign oil supplies, yet it can't or won't provide financial security for it's elderly population, can't or won't provide paid parental leave for it's citizens, can't or won't provide free health care or education, has more than double the infant mortality rate and three times the poverty rate. Yet spends more on it's military than China, Saudi Arabia, India, France, Russia, the UK and Germany combined. But, still has a lower GDP than Norway. So Capitalism is not inherantly evil, yeah, right.

Nice run-on non sequitur, tovarich!

'I did the right thing': Richer Sounds boss has no regrets

In a world of precarious work and heavy retail job losses, good deeds are as rare as hen’s teeth. The act was made all the more impressive by Richer’s decision to give a third of the £9.2m windfall he received for his stake back to more than 500 staff, handing them £1,000 for every year’s service.

“Capitalism is inherently evil because it’s based on greed so you have to rely on people to do the right thing,” he says. “I’m doing the right thing because I sleep better at night, and my business is better off because of it, but a lot of people don’t and that is why the state needs to be firmer.”

He made the big reveal on Tuesday morning at the retailer’s annual store manager conference. Crammed into a small Salvation Army hall in central London, some employees were suspicious but later confessed they had anticipated some extra annual leave. With an average payout of £8,000, the announcement was initially met with hushed silence but within a short space of time Richer would receive a standing ovation from cheering staff.

Julian Richer is the acceptable face of capitalism. His approach to business is the mirror opposite of the corporate goons who dominate most of the worlds commerce.

Richer’s business ideas have, he says, been reinforced by his decision to embrace Christianity in later life, but an early influence was a “socialist” housemaster at his boarding school, Clifton College in Bristol. “I was baptised when I was 47 and I’m very proud of that,” he says. “I call my faith practical Christianity. I just want to try and make the world a better place.”

Who would have thought that doing the right thing would work ? Christianity and socialism go hand in hand.

If it were Socialism, he would have given away 100% instead of 33%. And voluntary bonuses, gifts or charity are perfectly compatible with both Capitalism and Christianity.

If it was socialism he would not have to give anything away because all would be taken care of. Mr Richer is obviously a decent man and he is to be commended for his gesture.

Any system can fail it's people.

Capitalism has ours

so, if you don't understand disparity, quintile mobility ,economic slavery, corporatism are all signs sympthoms , then there's no point debating it here

So what do we do in this country when capitalism fails? Bail it out and no bitching from conservatives. 2008 crash a good example. Even the so called liberal Obama (yeah, right) did nothing. Business as usual, nobody goes to jail, and after awhile the wealthiest of the wealthy have big tax breaks bestowed on them like what trump and company did for them last year. . Like a liberal economist once said..."socialism for the rich and rugged individualism for the rest of us".

Enough said.
Norway is a small country with a population less than some major American cities. Moreover, it holds one of the biggest oil reserves in Europe which help fill government funds.

First of all, I think that considering current demography and growing competition from other developing countries, most European states won't be able to uphold the current social policy.

About the US military spending. The current domination of the US allows it to preserve the dollar dominance in the world trade. It is the cornerstone of the US economic stability. And the world's also.

Btw, I thought that tax burden of the Americans is significantly lower than that of the Europeans.

"Evil" is a term of theology. "Capitalism" is not a theology.
The root problem is not 'capitalism', 'socialism', 'fascism' or communism.
The root problem is materialism.

So what this guy s saying is that he has been evil because he was a capitalist and now he's paying people off to ease jis supposedly guilty conscience?

If capitalism is evil a "good" man would have never owned that company

So this guy is just another hypocrite

Or in laymans terms the 'I got mine' mentality that can infiltrate ,undermine, and subvert any of the options you've listed......~S~

Socialism is based on control, greed, and thieving, so it’s even more evil.

Its based on community, caring and Christian values.

Doesn't matter he is a capitalist because he owned stock in a business

if capitalism is evil then so is he.

"Capitalism" is not "evil", unless thinking and reasoning are "evil". Capitalism is not holy, either. It is rife with pitfalls, errors and wrong-doing. There may be better ways to do things, better economic approaches.

Actually Capitalism is based on control (market share), greed (higher profits) and thieving (taking from those who actually create the wealth, the 99%)

Then so am I. It is possible to own shares and still dislike the excesses of the greed culture.
