Davos elite: Capitalism has widened income gap | General Headlines | Comcast

We are headed down the toilet,we are slowly being headed toward socialism.

DAVOS, Switzerland — A four-year economic crisis has left societies battered and widened the gap between the haves and have-nots, financial leaders conceded Wednesday — with one suggesting that Western-style capitalism itself may be endangered.
Some 2,600 of the world's most influential people came for the forum this week amid increasing worries about the global economy and social unrest due to rising income inequalities.

Davos meeting coming up in Switzerland...
Income disparity, debt lead risk list
Jan 8,`13 -- The widening income gap between the rich and poor and burgeoning government deficits are the risks most likely to have a global impact over the next decade, according to experts surveyed by the World Economic Forum.
Climate change, water shortages and aging populations rounded out the WEF's top five risks. The 1,000-plus experts surveyed for the Switzerland-based forum's annual risk report also warn that risk factors could combine to produce unique problems. These risk combinations included climate change putting a heavy burden on a global economy and a declining economy in turn hurting efforts to fight global warming.

"These global risks are essentially a health warning regarding our most critical systems," said report editor Lee Howell, a managing director at the forum. "Resilience to global risks needs to be a priority so that critical systems continue to function despite a major disturbance."

The experts also identified the global health threat from increasing resistance of germs to antibiotics. Another new worry is a "digital wildfire" of wrong or controversial information going viral across online communities, such as outrage last year in the Muslim world over an anti-Islamic film.

The report's authors also noted that more and more people are living in disaster-prone areas such as coastal regions, increasing the economic costs of storms and flooding blamed on global warming. The report was published ahead of the forum's annual meeting later this month in the Swiss ski resort of Davos.

The Obama regime WANTS the free enterprise system to fail.

The Obama regime WANTS the United States to become a Euro-style economic and socialist nightmare.

Government intervention is destroying "capitalism", and has changed the word "capitalism" into a derisive, negative, divisive monster that must be destroyed.

Why do we always hear about the "rich getting richer", when there are THOUSANDS of "rich" people who have lost EVERYTHING in the past five years or so?

Why do we always ridicule and point fingers at those people who invested their money in a timely, wise, and often-times "right place, right time" manner, profited from their investments, and are now considered to be one of the "evil wealthy"?

Last time I checked, we all still have the freedom to do whatever we want with our money, as long as it is legal. We can invest our money, spend our money, gamble with our money, earn more money, lose money, give our money away, loan our money to family and friends, etc.

It's not failing, it is working as intended. Every working person in America is now willing to settle for less and happy just to have a stinking dead-end job.

That's how Democrats intend it to work.

Yet again another call for equality in treatment or outcome when it benefits a person or their chosen cause, but no problem treating someone else unequally to get to that goal...

Disgusting

Equality or inequality in OUTCOME does NOT need to be addressed, unless you want to get rid of freedom all together

Inequality does need to be addressed and soon. The potential for social upheaval is becoming too large to ignore, especially since it is now clear that the leaders of the finance industry are too powerful to bring to justice for any kind of fraud or manipulation.

No it does NOT.. unless you wish to rid yourself from freedom along with the 'inequality of outcome'

Specifically what freedom is at risk by not ignoring the fact that social mobility is now a myth? How is just allowing people to manipulate the entire world economy to only benefit the few ultra wealthy any sort of freedom any "free" society should aspire to?

Wouldn't we need to allow the free markets to work before they can be failing?

Social mobility is not a myth. Though I know you support policies designed to make it so.

Your mobility in whatever direction is not society's responsibility...

The freedom to succeed goes hand in hand with the freedom to fail.. you get no guaranteed outcome

By all measures social mobility is dead unless you count downward movement as social mobility.

No.. nobody EVER goes from poor to middle class.. or poor to upper middle class.. or poor to rich.. or middle class to rich

Give it a break..

You don't get to equalize outcome AND have freedom.. sorry

No caplitalism needs GOOD regulations to keep it working in a way that benifits the most people

Ain't that the truth. When the LIBOR scandal can even occur at all there is a problem so big that it is all but unsolvable.

human beings are NOT on the earth to support capitalism.

Caplitalism is for supporting the most people.

When it stops benifiting the most people in favor of the few its useless to the masses.

You want capitalism you have to give it the correct regulations that keep it from becoming a cast system.

Those who refuse these regulations are the ones killing capitalism
