Capitalism is about competition and regulated free trade. It's a system of both profits and teamwork. It differs from Communism in that it promotes individualism and self-gain.

America is a capitalist system, and American media/entertainment celebrates consumerism and capitalism. In England, the masses were obsessed with scandals/gossip about Princess Diana, and in America, the masses are obsessed with tabloids/gossip about Hollywood movie-stars such as Leo DiCaprio and Khloe Kardashian.

Since capitalism is a liberty-based philosophy, we can see how consumerism and Hollywood (and tabloids!) in America can promote a dualism in mentality --- bifurcation based on intellect and candy.

This 'dualism' may be characterized by the Eastern-philosophy Yin-Yang, a double-symmetry circle depicting the existence of darkness in light and light in darkness. Since the Yin-Yang represents a balance-in-motion, we can use it to appreciate (very generally) the consumerism-consciousness associated with American media schizophrenia (e.g., tabloid scandalization of deified celebrities).

Where then is the 'darkness' in our American tabloid psychology?

"A secret-society of mask-wearing Americans called the Dogboys met every October at an abandoned castle in Scotland. The Doboyz collected numerous American media tabloids (mostly from supermarkets) and brought them to this annual October meeting at the Scottish castle. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate how capitalism/consumerism was facilitating a filthy consciousness."

"The Dogboyz believed that economist-philosopher Adam Smith, author of The Wealth of Nations, was 'incomplete' in his evaluation of capitalism as a 'basic competition system.' The Dogboyz believed that capitalism was like a 'sphere' cut in many ways and peeled like an orange and exposing some slithering leviathan-like creature known as Red Dragon. The Dogboyz believed this 'Red Dragon' fumed fire at American media's seeming disregard for etiquette in its celebration of scandal-juicing tabloids. Was capitalism a beast-factory?"

fc18.jpg

"Perhaps the Dogboyz overestimated their interest in Red Dragon, for capitalism was breeding scandals about both male and female celebrities in tabloids, and Red Dragon was obviously a male beast/creature/leviathan. In fact, images of pornography and scandalous women in Hollywood reflected an American fascination with lust and liberty. However, the Dogboyz were only interested in theoretical evaluations."

fc20.jpg

"The Dogboyz were huge fans of Stephen Hawking who was a wheelchaired astrophysicist who studied the thermodynamics of black holes and how anarchy could be mathematically-evaluated. The Dogboyz liked Hawking's theory that 'arrows of time' could be 'plotted' from black holes and that concepts of entropy in a black hole gave rise to ideas about cardinalities of euphoria. Perhaps tabloid-consumerism was a sort of 'metaphysical black hole'."

"Since Americans loved comic books, the Dogboyz collected numerous comics depicting America's fascination with vigilantism, civics, heroism, villainy, anarchy, competitiveness, nuclear war, terrorism, racism, crime, and gender-politics. The Dogboyz were big fans of Scarlet Witch, Lady Jaye, Captain America, Green Arrow, Flash, and G.I. Joe. The Dogboyz considered comics a social cure to the modern obsession with celebrity-based tabloids. Could folklore address the very real civilization problem of anarchy?"

"Of course, many celebrities appreciated all the media attention and fanfare reflected in tabloids and social gossip. Movie-stars would see an increase in box-office sales if their movies got 'extra spice' from juicy society gossip, and Woody Allen even made a film about this 'marketing phenomenon' called Celebrity(!). From the perspective of capitalists, all this consumerism-confetti was simply 'fuel' for the modern free market, and anti-Western terrorists (e.g., ISIS, Cobra) despised this 'American aesthetic'."

TRUMP: Do you read tabloids?
CARTER: As your advisor, I have to keep pace with trends!
TRUMP: Is gossip really reflective of social trends?
CARTER: In the age of media, it certainly is, sir.
TRUMP: Well, it's arguable.
CARTER: You know first-hand the value of consumerism.
TRUMP: Yes, I managed a casino and hosted Celebrity Apprentice.

TRUMP: In America, it's all about Leo DiCaprio and hot actresses.
CARTER: Yes, people like the 'power' of media.
TRUMP: Celebrities such as Tom Cruise use media to promote Scientology.
CARTER: Yes, movie-stars may use the media as a 'pulpit.'
TRUMP: Leo DiCaprio has his own eco-activism organization.
CARTER: I believe his organization sponsored a conference at Yale.
TRUMP: Sometimes, capitalism feels like 'pure darkness.'
CARTER: It's really a Yin-Yang balance between scandal and commerce.
TRUMP: Are you a fan of Facebook?
CARTER: I prefer Twitter, actually, as social media...
TRUMP: Maybe there are secret-societies analyzing celebrity-trends!
CARTER: That would be very 'natural.'
TRUMP: Maybe Roman Polanski shouldn't have made films about Satanism.
CARTER: Maybe Steven Spielberg should've made another film about the Holocaust.
