Cantor signals shift in GOP stance on tax loopholes

No. If they cave in, it isn't to "reason." It's to business as usual. Gutless, mindless, spineless Republicans doing what they do so often and so well: being liberal Democrat piss-bois.

There should -- of course -- be no "compromise." Get President Obama and the filthy dishonest liberal Demoncraps to "blink," instead.

But that would take integrity.

A home-mortgage deduction is a "loophole." When they "close" that loophole, lots of people will end up paying much higher taxes.

We aren't actually talking about closing "loopholes."

Let's be real.

We are still talking about raising taxes.

The GOP knows it will lose, if the nation defaults. They have to at least look reasonable to the American voters. I expect they have figured that they have pushed the point as far as it could go.

Republicans are convinced they are in a lose/lose situation so they are going squishy.

Fuck Obama.

Start the negotiations by getting Obama to admit he's a Failed Leader, "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. ... It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our government's reckless fiscal policies." -- Barack Hussein Obama, Failed Leader, Community Organizer and low-level socialist agitator

Then tell him to shut the fuck up and stop driving the country off the cliff like Obama & Lousie

It's tax loopholes lol who gives a shit as long as the base rates don't go up. And they said loop holes were on the table long ago

Republicans have been singing the perils of the downfall of the Lear jet, if the tax deduction was taken away for that. Now they seem to be backing away. THEY FRIGIN BLINKED!

There has been no change; Cantor and the Republicans (and conservative repubs like me) have from the start, and continue to be for throwing out loopholes in exchange for lowering corporate tax rates for all corps so that croney capitalism gives way to free enterprise and thus a leveler playing field for all US corporations.

The Dems say no because the say they're against tax breaks for CEOs who fly their corporate jets, but in reality they love croney capitalism because it gives them power and with power comes graft, political advantage for their friends (think Jeffrey Imelt, GE, and windmills), and a capacity for economic engineering through tax manipulation, and the ability to coerce thru regulatory fiat.

From your link:
(CNN)-A day before congressional leaders meet with President Barack Obama to discuss how to raise the debt limit, the number-two House Republican opened the door to possible compromise, saying Wednesday he is open to closing some of the tax “loopholes” that Democrats have been pushing, but only if those items are offset by reducing taxes in other areas.

“If the president wants to talk loopholes, we’ll be glad to talk loopholes,” House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said at his weekly session with reporters on Capitol Hill.

I say close ALL the loopholes!

Good Lord, people...read the link!

My letter to Eric Cantor

For the love of everything holy, do not let the Progressives twist your thinking!

No matter what you do, they will blame Republicans for the Obama Economy, why don't you understand that? They're blaming Bush43, Reagan, bank ATM machines, airport kiosks because they have no idea how a thriving economy is supposed to function. DO NOT EMULATE THEM!

Here's Obama in his own words "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. ... It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our government's reckless fiscal policies." -- Barack Hussein Obama, Failed Leader

He wanted Stimulus, he got Stimulus then laughed about the jobs really weren't Shovel Ready!

Get your self respect back and do not give in! You will be blamed no matter what you agree to you might as well insist on what we know works: lower taxes, get rid of ObamaCare and business killing legislation.

No they won't Liability; they can claim the regular standard deduction, and get more of a deduction, than if they actually itemize; I know because I keep up with taxes, and unless the interest is greater than the standard, that "loophole" means nothing at all to the average taxpayer.

"The standard deduction, as defined under United States tax law, is a dollar amount that non-itemizers may subtract from their income and is based upon filing status. It is available to US citizens and resident aliens who are individuals, married persons, and heads of household and increases every year. It is not available to nonresident aliens residing in the United States. Additional amounts are available for persons who are blind and/or are at least 65 years of age. The standard deduction is distinct from personal exemptions, which also are available to all taxpayers and dependents. As one may not take both itemized deductions and a standard deduction, taxpayers generally choose the deduction that results in the lesser amount of tax owed..."

Take 2011 filing jointly the deduction is $11,600, and everyone gets it whether or not they pay interest on a mortgate.

Im shocked. I mean who would have ever thought that the debt ceiling would be going up.

The real amazing thing is that Democrats are holding it hostage to raise taxes on homeowners. I thought we were trying to avoid more mortgage defaults. Sounds like someone wants people getting kicked out of their homes.

you see folks, the above is what all this is for liberals. The Gop is damned if they do and damned if they don't.

They, the Democats are the ones WHO don't care about COUNTRY OVER PARTY.

I hope the Gob tells the Obama to stick it up his ass.

Plus this is from Cnn. I wouldn't believe a thing they say if it was notarized on their Obama ass sucking tongues.

Lets face it, it's not a revenue increase, they just changed the wording of it, it's a friggen tax increase, and I will not vote for any Republican who signs onto this. I think it's high time to get more Tea party members in, start voting the rinos out in 2012.
Obama will use this against the GOP in 2012, he will say "I didn't raise taxes on you, but the GOP did". Dumbass RINOS.

Being as a majority of economist of all stripes believe that in order to cut away the National Debt, cuts must be made in spending AND revenue must be increased.
The Washington politicians who are fighting this approach are the ones who put party/ideology over country. In the real world, that includes Democrats and Republicans.
