Can't make any money off 4th amendment rights.

No.

Of course it’s not the government’s role to protect our rights – that responsibility belongs to each American and the courts are the venue in which we challenge a given violation.

The purpose of the Bill of Rights is to protect us from......the government. We have the Supremes to allegedly make a judgement about the constitutionality of various statutes but strangely enough liberals are against strict Constitutional review. They would rather see a more flexible constitution where the Bill of Rights becomes meaningless.

You think liberals are against strict Constitutional review? Why?

Just curious.

With the gold mine that is the asset forfeiture laws behind the RICO and drugs laws. Can we really expect government to protect our 4th amendment rights?
The government is not responsible for protecting our rights. As a matter of fact our rights as in the US Constitution are there to protect us FROM government.
It is very complicated and a long process to get a RICO conviction. The "people" must have their ducks in a row. Very neat rows.
Asset forfeiture comes only after evidence is enough so that it is clear that certain property of the defendant is "ill gotten gain".
Can mistakes be made? Sure. Can a person's assets be taken in error? Yes.
As a matter of fact , I know someone to whom this happened. His property was returned shortly after the taking.
