Now that he’s officially in, Rick Perry can do all the things necessary to win the Republican presidential nomination. One of the first things on that list: make a movie.

The Texas governor’s campaign has released an inaugural video introducing Perry to the few primary voters who may never have heard his name before. Like videos from the rest of the GOP field, Perry’s uses the floundering economy and government overspending as a platform from which to launch his presidential aspirations.

“[H]ope is on the horizon,” intones the very serious voice-over. “Not the empty rhetoric of hope, but a record that gives us hope.”

Unlike the other hopefuls who released general, introductory videos, Perry’s first offering clearly aims to appeal to a core Christian-conservative base, saying “America’s job governor’s learned the values of hard work, patriotism and faith in God.”

Perry officially announced his intent to run on Saturday, stealing at least some of the thunder from the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa where the rest of the GOP candidates were jockeying for position. According to the most recent Real Clear Politics average, Perry has already jumped to second place in the polls, about six percentage points behind Mitt Romney and just as much above Michele Bachmann.

It will be pretty tough to smear Perry. His Job-Creation Record is second to none.

Didn't even watch the whole thing and there are a plethora of distortions and outright lies. President Obama's "uncontrolled" spending? On what? Where? Most of the debt crisis is from President Bush's uncontrolled spending.

And Debt crisis? That's totally manufactured. America can service it's debt for quite a long time. And job creators worrying about regulations? Newsflash..the lack of regulatory enforcement got us into trouble in the first place. Canadian and Swiss banks weren't in trouble. Why? Because of heavy regulation.

And the S&P thing is the most laughable. The S&P didn't blame the President..it blamed the Congress.

Ron Paul welcomes his fellow Texan to the race.

"I welcome Rick Perry to the race. He is apart of the status quo. He will dilute the vote for all the conventional politicians. So, for those of who believe in liberty, limited government, and looking at the Fed, and changing our foreign policy won't interfere will our goals. He is going to interfere with Romney and a few others."

It's funny how the media is already placing him so high up as a contender in the Presidential race. He has just now declared his intention to run, participated in no debates, was not included in any polls yet a top tier candidate?

When the media supports a candidate so strongly than you know from the get go that that person is pro establishment and just another future puppet who is playing along to garner the backing of the establishment.

Rick Perry was the Texas campaign manager for Al Gore in 1988. Somehow in one year he decided that everything he believed in as a liberal democrat was wrong and switched parties in 1989. I don't think so.

The fact that he switched so suddenly as he did is a sign to me that Rick Perry only looks out for Rick Perry, and what's best for Rick Perry will always come above to what's best for America.

He didn't leave the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party left him. Sometimes change really is good.

Economic job growth has down well because of stimulus money and defense contracts, in Texas.

Let's make sure we understand about what we are talking here.
