Canada's economy is suddenly the envy of the world - Yahoo! News

The banks are stable because, in part, they're more regulated. As the U.S. and Europe loosened regulations on their financial industries over the last 15 years, Canada refused to do so. The banks also aren't as leveraged as their U.S. or European peers.

"Our situation was dire. Canada was in a lot of trouble at that point," Martin said. "If we were going to preserve our health care and our education system we had to do it."

The GOP has preached deregulations for as long as I can remember. Canada, you know, the country with socialized medicine. They are the ones with the economy other countries are envying.

How long are the people of this country going to beleive the BS that the Republicans are preaching? I can't even count the lies they told about HC reform on one hand....

The City of Philadelphia has more MRI machines than the entire nation of Canada. They are the envy of Socialists and Neo-Nazi's

If Canada had such a great and booming economy I would move there. The problem is they don't, and they have extremely restrictive immigration policies (which also hurts the economy)...

The Federal government tells you what light bulbs to use and how much water should be in your toilet but we're "Deregulated"

What a sick fucking joke

Canadas' got maybe one-tenth of our population.

Hence, they need fewer MRI machines.

Duh.

Canada has some major economic problems. They just don't know it yet.

Okay, what are the major problems?

Yeah, I don't doubt there's some major problems, but I'm also curious to know them.

Immigration Canada is a pain in the friggin' ass. But the major reason for that is that Canada has the highest immigration rate in the world.

In 2001, 250,640 people immigrated to Canada. Based on the Canada 2001 Census total population of 30,007,094 people, immigration represented 0.834% population growth that year. On a compounded basis, that immigration rate represents 8.7% population growth over 10 years, or 23.1% over 25 years (or 6.9 million people). Since 2001, immigration has ranged between 221,352 and 262,236 immigrants per annum.[7]

According to Canada's Immigration Program (October 2004) Canada has the highest per capita immigration rate in the world,[8] although statistics in the CIA World Factbook show that a number of city states and small island nations, as well as some larger countries in regions with refugee movements, have higher per capita rates.[9] [...]

Statistics Canada projects that, by 2031, almost one-half of the population over the age of 15 will be foreign-born. The number of visible minorities will double and make up the majority of the population of cities in Canada[12].

It does say though that most of it is to the big 3 cities (Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto) and that these are getting some infrastructure strain... by the same token, the other provinces are actually trying to get MORE immigrants to fill the gap.

But anyway, carry on, CANADA SOCIALIST WASTELAND!!! ARGHH, FUCK 'EM FORRRNNRRR PINKOS!!!!
