We miss a lot about Canada because it is generally a boring country. They are helpful around the world, but they are not important around the world....

Now, after the shooting in Canada today, we begin to see more and more gun crime happening in a country that we are told has gun control...

Toronto reels after weekend gun violence

Officials in Toronto say more will be done to reduce gun violence after 11 people were shot, two fatally, over a holiday weekend.

The weekend of violence included a deadly shooting on Queen Street, a commercial artery, that killed two men and left one woman wounded.

The shooting happened on Saturday just before 8pm local time (12am GMT).

Gun violence in Canada's largest city appears to be taking place at a higher rate than normal.

If only the Canadians were allowed to carry this never would have happened.

How fast did the police respond...oh yeah, not fast enough to keep 2 people from being killed and 13 being shot......

And what has happened as more Americans carry guns....?

We went from 200 million guns in private hands in the 1990s and 4.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 1997...to close to 400-600 million guns in private hands and over 17 million people carrying guns for self defense in 2017...guess what happened...

-- gun murder down 49%

--gun crime down 75%

--violent crime down 72%

Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation’s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75% lower in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall (with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two decades.

is much less per capita and in numbers than in Chicago, LA, or NYC.

It's an isolated incident and not terror. Woe be Canada if it was. They protect terrorists more than gays.

Yes....the democrats in those cities have controlled them for decades so they are real crap holes. Canada has been lucky that they don't have the race guilt that democrats have, driving an insane desire to let violent criminals out of jail...

Canada is much safer the the US

None of which makes Canada any less safer when compared to the USA.

Very colorful if unconvincing meme there.

Mostly due to gang and drug violence and suicide in the US. Otherwise, the homicide rates are about the same.

CDC numbers
Fatal Injury Data | WISQARS | Injury Center | CDC

And if you look at the victims, which is pointed out in your photo.....70-80% of the gun murder victims are criminals. Of the rest, quite a number are friends and family caught in the crossfire of that violence.

The overall effect is socialists want your guns.in order to gain power over you. Their elite get gun protection, not you nor your friends and family.

The overall effect in Canada is that it is far safer per capita and in numbers than the US.

No... the Canadian people have made it safer...but as the crime stats show, that is changing.....crime stats are not frozen in place forever, and left wing policies will always increase them...

Keep your guns.

Be responsible with them.

Land like a predator on those who violate the law with them.

We agree..... that is why I propose a 30 year sentence for any actual crime committed with a gun, rape, and robbery, while murder and attempted murder should be the death penalty...

That would work, that is how Japan does it.

No, you are wrong, as you well know. The numbers are what they are because of the laws and the peoples' better understanding about guns than in the US.

No.... if you were right, gun crime would not be going up in countries that imposed your extreme gun control...like Britain, Australia and Canada..... their gun crime rates are going up, not down.

Meanwhile, in the U.S......where more people own and carry guns...our gun crime rate over the last 25 years has gone down 75%, gun murder down 49%, violent crime down 72%...... which is the exact opposite of what you tell us would happen.

The rates go up minimally in relation to the population increases in civilized countries with civilized gun laws. In America, no correlation exists between relaxed gun laws and decrease in crime. Coincidence is not causation.

Wrong..... our population increased, our gun owner ship increased and our gun carrying in public increased....and our gun murder rate went down 49%.... gun crime went down 75%....violent crime down 72%....

Britain.... they banned and confiscated guns, their gun crime rates have gone up.
