Canada free health care

The combined taxes in Canada seem awfully high
TaxTips.ca - 2008 and 2009 Personal income tax rates for Canada and provinces/territories
While speaking to some Canadians yesterday they stated that the rates are over 505 FOR EARNERS OVER 80,000 cd$
We in the USA will soon enjoy trickle down poverty.
If you figure what you pay for health care, and add it in as if it were a tax, it would no doubt increase your rate.
Nearly all Canadians love their heealthcare and not even the most conservative PM would dare to change it.

The topic was Canadian Health care.
Between Stossel and Moore, I'll trust Moore.

Well you didn't watch the videos.

Canada is talked about along with europe in the first 6. Michael Moore admits to his misrepresenting cuba in the bottom video "Well lets not talk about cuba then" -Moore

Not the folks I spoke to yesterday , They said if they had the choice of getting their% health care tax money back, so they could purchase insurance in the USA they would do so in a heartbeat they stated 6 months waiting list for an MRI, I dont have to contact my insurance company to see a specialist or to get an MRI No waiting other than a day or so in one case.

Most Canadians have never known any other system, but among this group of informed consumers, the US system is preferred in every area concerning the quality of health care they received and the Canadian system preferred only in areas concerning access and cost.

Americans living in Canada prefer the U.S. health-care system for speed, quality and diagnostic technology, says a new study. But they also applaud the equity and cost-effectiveness of Canada’s system. And in the final analysis, 40 per cent prefer the Canadian system.

Americans in Canada prefer U.S. health care: poll

Since this group of well educated, well informed consumers rate the quality of health care delivered in the US to people with insurance as superior to the quality of health care Canadians receive, wouldn't it make more sense to try to help more Americans gain access to our superior health care services than to adopt a system that delivers inferior health care services?

Exactly, they say the quality of health care an insured person in the US receives is superior to the quality of health care available to Canadians, so why would we want to change to a system that delivers inferior health care? Wouldn't it make more sense to try to help more Americans gain greater access to our superior health care system? According to these informed consumers, switching to a single payer system like Canada's would be a step backward in terms of the quality of health care services available, not a step forward.

I saw that, but Moore didn't say he "misrepresented Cuba", as you alleged.

It was a paraphrase.

he admits that the stuff he said about cuba was bogus by pointing out its "red herring" status then wants to shift the debate to other countries where what he claims has more merit.

As a resident Canadian on USMB, I can state that generally, Canadians are happy with the healthcare, though like America, there is room for improvement.

Eventually, there will be a private option alongside the public program simply because taxes are already high and healthcare is eating up more and more of the budget.

I am personally divided on universal health care. I do not like it that there is 46 million people in the US w/o insurance but UHC would have some MAJOR drawbacks. For example, according to the world health organization, France was dubbed as having the best health care system in the world. However, after just a little research, i found out that every employer in that nation has to pay nearly 13% of every employees salary to pay for this system. Some people will think that they would not mind since they do not own a business but they do not realize that if this happens then the employer might cut benefits, stop giving out bonuses, and force everyone to take a pay cut. My point is that the standard of living will be lower for the lower income americans. The people who can afford to pay for insurance will be less of an income. Universal health care is not free.

That's interesting. Here in Australia we pay a percentage of income tax as a levy for health care. The more you earn, the more you pay; the less you earn, the less you pay and if you earn not much at all or are on a pension then it's free. The employer has no liability for payment so your health care isn't dependent on your employment.

Private health care is available and you can buy insurance to pay for it, unlike the situation in Canada, as Toro pointed out (although it should be noted that Canada has a provincially-based system whereas here in Australia it's national).

Our system isn't perfect either, it has suffered from years of under-resourcing due to the previous conservative federal government but reforms are being examined now. However even that previous conservative federal government wouldn't dare dismantle our healthcare system.

In the end it's what you prefer but it would be good if people wouldn't misrepresent the facts of health care systems around the world simply to bolster their ideological view of something which shouldn't be grounded in ideology.

Are you talking about my post here? If so I just picked France b/c they were ranked as having the best health care system in the world by the world health organization and i just stated if the US followed their system, there would be drawbacks. If you were referring to my post, would you think that companies wouldnt end up doing this?

MRI machines run 24/7 in Ontario. My ex waited 3 days for a non-life threatening ailment. In fact, I'm sure he faking.

Is there a perfect system, ANYWHERE?
