Can we finally bury the myth Democrats are smarter?

Well, Republicans did elect Trump as their nominee - that is a REALLY bad way convince people you aren't dumb.

And Democrats made the dishonest Hillary their nominee, not sure how you can consider them smart.
Fact checkers confirm Hillary Clinton is more honest than any of her 2016 opponents

The factual bottom line is that Hillary Clinton is the most honest candidate in the 2016 election. Bernie Sanders is a close second, making them the two most comparatively “honest” politicians in the race. In contrast, Donald Trump rates out as nearly a pathological liar, and Cruz doesn't do much better.
A right is something that government cannot take away from you. What do you think the "Bill of Rights" is?
The "Bill of Rights" is a list of rights embedded in the Constitution and recognized by the US Government. What the government give the government can take away. The Constitution has been altered many times. There is a good portion of this country that would repeal the 2nd amendment if they could get a majority of the country on their side so that "right" might vanish.

And if you get the 2nd amendment repealed, then yes, that right goes away. Here's the 4-1-1, it hasn't been repealed, so it's still a right ...
Then we agree, a right is something that government can take away from you.

Strawman
Please explain.

What kind of "fact" is that, the kind you and your "fact checker" just made up?

The media loves to give the statistics "MOST EDUCATED PEOPLE VOTE DEMOCRAT!"

The media wants everyone to believe that highly educated people sat around and said , "What is the best political system for America?", and the answer came to them as "The Democrats!"

Let me tell you a little story.

I grew up with a kid, and his mom was a hardcore Democrat. He was a lifeguard when he was younger, then later, he became a teacher.

What's missing from this story?

What's missing is, he had no intention of getting a real job in the private sector.

Obviously his mom told him "Make sure you apply for a city job, where the public pays your wages"

Now, the Democrats put on a big act that they have a passion for teaching. Is that the truth? or it the truth the fact they want a job with,

1) an inflated paycheck, paid for by the public.

2) benefits paid for by the public.

3) automatic raises paid for by the public

4) a reduced work day

5) tenure , where they can't get fired no matter how much they fail.

6) pension, paid for by the public.

America's fail rate, and drop-out rate are proof most teachers have no "passion" for teaching.

We learn that Democrats gravitate to the education field, for monetary purposes.

What person is going to risk all those benefits by pissing off everyone they work with, by driving through the parking lot with an "ALL HAIL TRUMP!" bumper sticker?

What person is going to risk a 800k administration job at Stanford, by pissing off everyone they work with, by driving through the parking lot with an "ALL HAIL TRUMP!" bumper sticker?

Young people who apply for jobs at school are going to walk like a duck, quack like a duck, fly like a duck, in hopes the left-wing system will hire another duck.

The logic is very simple. If these people support the Socialist system, their job is secure, and they might be able to get their kids in when the conspiracy is larger.

If the Republicans take over, they run the risk some conservative might show up and say "What the hell is going on here?" and fire everyone because of the drop-out rate.

The Republicans don't pay their salary.

Trump doesn't pay their salary.

Jesus doesn't pay their salary.

The Socialist conspiracy pays their salary!

What the hell do they care what's best for America?

Well, there was that democratic congressman years ago who thought the Island of Guam would capsize because, the US was storing to many munitions there. There could be something to your theory. That dwarfs Palin's ability to see Russia from Alaska

If this is the best either party can come up with and has to conspire to get Clinton, a person with no character, into the nomination. I question everyone's intelligence.

REALLY? You can't think of anyone, out of a field of 20 candidates on a Republican side that would be smarter pick for them than this embarrassing orange clown?

I never said he was the smartest pick, and neither is Hillary. They both are the two worst picks of all time. That is why I am questioning both party's. Neither party is intelligent to me. What is sad, come election day millions will admit to being dumb by voting for either candidate.
Voting third party is even dumber.

Fredo, had he not been offed, would be a staunch Republican. Look at 'em all here, screaming "I'm smart, and I want respect!'.

Like Fredo, they don't get that saying you're smart doesn't actually make you smart.

The smarter you are the less you rely on 'absolutes'. The less educated you are the more you rely on 'absolutes' as the world is a scary place and you look for stable ground to stand on. This is why people with a college degree are far less likely to believe in 'gods'. They've learned enough and grown enough to not be consumed by the fear that drives people to need an invisible dad who will 'make it all ok'. And though many Democrats are religious they aren't religious zealots like those you see on the right.

You can see the fear response in action re the right's arm flailing and wailing about the very small, but overly dramatized, terrorist attacks in various places around the world. It's normal to have some fear and trepidation but they have gone nuclear in their minds and they speak as if the world is about to end.

Lack of knowledge drives fear, and the right is by far the more fearful segment of US society.

No, owning a gun is a privilege. That's why it's in the Bill of Privileges.

No wait, it's the Bill of Rights ...

Feriners don't grasp our Constitution, do you?

Once again, you fail to grasp my point. Maybe you shouldn't comment on threads that are obviously above your mental capacity to comprehend.

You suck at insults too. You used "neocon" as an insult in a way that contradicted the definition of neocon, classic. Can't make up the stupid that leftists actually are. You don't know what a neocon is, do you? LMAO

The fact that you are still lost in the past with a historical definition of the term is of no surprise to me.

Thank you. Ditto for Obama and Hillary

Er, no. Hate or loathe Obama and Hillary even their little pinkies show more signs of intelligence than Trump and Dumbya combined. Personally, I think Obama and Hillary are average candidates, but Trump and Bush? Beyond awful.

Yes, you're a mindless leftists who swallows, you mentioned that

-Every one should have a education Then get a job; and pay for it yourself. For you ,and your children. Education is a privilege; not a right.

And I bet you see owning a gun as a right not a privilege?

The neocon whackjobs sure have their priorities right.

As to the Oped, I dunno if Dems are smarter. What I do know is that anybody who didn't vote for Dumbya and who won't vote for Trump are smarter than those that did/will.

If you vote for either candidate this election, you are not smart at all. This is a year to find a good third party candidate.

Unfortunately the way your political system is set up means the third-party option is a wasted vote. I do agree with you in principle though.

It's not wasted, it is a vote for a person that you deem worthy of the Presidency.

The government doesn't give rights. It only protects them or violates them.

Where do these rights come from if not from the government? We live in a democracy so the government is really all of us. True?

They come from your nature as a living human. We all know intrinsically that it's unjust to punish someone simply for stating his opinion. This rule has been proven philosophically, but I won't bore you with the details

Republicans are so fucking stupid.

Democrats feel that
-Every one should have a education
-Everyone should have healthcare
-Value knowledge and the advancement of such
-Value science investment and believe that it can cure diseases that effect us.
-Value being number one on earth as a country!
-Value our environment and fight to protect our national treasures.
-Value our air, water and food quality
-Believe the worker isn't a second class citizen because he or she was born without as much money.
-I am seriously starting to believe that the democrats believe in modern civilization while the repubicans wish for something very backwards.

WTF do republicans want to do? The opposite. and you call yourself smart? Give me a fucking break. You sound more and more like the taliban every day.

Republicans feel that everyone should have a job according to their ability and pay for all of those things you listed.

To earn a salary and make a living you mean?
Don't you think that's a good thing?

This whole argument is such a sham. Democrats follow the same strategy here as in the healthcare debate, understanding that their party is so dumb they can't see the forest for the trees. We have given you obamacare, now everyone has insurance. But way too many Americans now don't have healthcare because they can't afford it, but the perception is that dems care, the reality is they can't run a lemonade stand.

More money is spent on education and healthcare in this country than any other nation in the world, and we are sliding backwards. Republicans who want results for money spent are pilloried as anti education and anti healthcare, when nothing can be farther from the truth. People like Mathew have never been able to to get past generic accusations that only tell, half, the story. Let's look at the recent record.

Student debt is greater than credit card debt. So we have more college graduates than ever, a more educated populace and we have a decline middle class and a greater wealth disparity than ever. So just like health care, everyone is getting a so called education but no one can get a job, AND graduates are so saddled with debt that they can't even contribute to society, so the democratic program on education is hurting the economy. Money is being epically wasted and we are still going backwards. As trump likes to say, these people in power are just stupid.

It won't do any more good to go through the other points. The overarching theme is that democrats weaponize these issues the way they weaponize the justice department or the epa to enforce their political agenda.education is only necessary to brainwash young people and universal healthcare is only necessary in order to control the masses, socialist tenets all. There are very smart people who support democrats and republicans. This country's problem is that the high iq people are avoiding politics like the plague and in both parties we are only being offered the Jv.

If we all know it why has it been such a rare commodity? Parents often violate it, religions often violate it, governments certainly often violate it. Was it ever explicitly stated as a right before the time of our founding fathers?

We get the government we deserve. We refuse to pay our politicians a competitive salary (the president makes less than many a football coach) and then refuse to pay for their campaigns. Then we are shocked when they spend their time raising money and not representing us. When did we start believing in free lunch?

When was the law of gravity stated before Newton? When someone violates it, we know an injustice has been committed. It there's no right, then there is no injustice.
