Can any con/repub here explain why these voter ID laws are necessary?

This isn't even the liberal in me talking. I truly believe that Republicans created these laws to prevent certain demographics from voting for Obama. Voter fraud is not even an issue in this country. These laws do nothing but undermine the democratic process.

I'm all ears on an explanation as to why we need them.
