California's "Hidden funds"

Yeah, california is having problems for a very real reason. It's state government is in need of a major overhaul.

Yep - from the position of dog-catcher all the way to the top.

The same could probably be said for the other 49 states though.

California has taken it to a high level, but there are surely other states with crappy governments.

California is Detroit at the State level, a system destroyed by years of letting Progressives run things.

So, there's one particular question that seems of relevance to me. Are hospital and highway construction suffering? If not, then all that is happening here is that they are borrowing money against their allotments for bingo halls and acupuncture, and using it to pay their bills for education and police.

And I really don't have a problem with that.

Actually, no. California is ruined because anyone and everyone can alter the Constitution with a mere majority vote but it takes a super majority to raise a tax.

Hooray for letting The People run a state into the ground.

It's what happens when you let a couple million illegal aliens vote...

Whaddayagonnado?? :dunno:

Start off by getting rid of all the Democrats.

Agreed!

But let the last Democrat hold the door open for the Republicans.

California was set up for it's fail by Republicans letting corporate interests get ahead of public interests just as much as Democrats allowing union interests to trump common sense. Ask Arnold what changing "Cally foh nya" meant politically. He tried it twice and got kicked in the nuts by both sides. Might as well fondle interns at that point.

California hasnt had a republican with any power since the mid 90s, almost 20 years ago....Arnold couldnt do anything with the overwhelmingly democratic legislature in that state.....are you on crack?

oops I was a bit off
It has been controlled by the Democratic Party since 1970 except during 1995 and 1996.

You see, your problem is that you look to the controllers as the ones to cast blame on. You don't think about the nest-featherers who may not be in a majority, but still have enough influence to build an Enron or 2 inside a Democrat controlled machine. They exist no matter which side has a majority, and cause more damage over time than any single person could in an elected capacity.

I voted for Arnold (so you don't have to quote wiki stats to me) - he was more believable than Gray Davis (or Gary Coleman, for that matter). He stepped up and fixed a few issues with the state's energy infrastructure - costing him a few Republican buddies who pissed themselves laughing when he decided to fix California's educational system and got hung up by the teacher's union losing him any hope for the bi-partisan support he needed to do anything but send nastygrams to the cutie at his reception desk for the rest of his term. (I saw the pics, she really wasn't THAT cute)
