Second, right now CA taxes people above $250K higher than any other state. Many have already left the state, more will go. They are already 2nd highest in the country in sales tax (Yep Cook County IL is the highest)! Who wants 2nd, CA wants to be first.
Third, the threat is to hit education. The treat for higher taxation is always do this or we will have to kill the children. CA has cut so much to education is a laughing stock of the industrialized world, even students in Moldova say "heck it could be worse, we could be in the California school system." Yet liberals screamed LOUD and FAR about how bad Scott Walker was when he BALANCED a just as DAMAGING deficit WITHOUT raising taxes, cutting services, closing schools or firing teachers. In fact, they added services, have been one of the few states HIRING teachers and opening more schools!!! Yet CA is the state liberals say cares about education and WI is the one that doesn't!
Fourth, there is no doubt to it. If these gets passed, by the same time next year, the CA deficit will be even higher, welfare costs will be higher and cuts to education will have happened either way!!!
