Calif Braces for Snow in the Middle of May

given the current depth of snow pack avalanche and therefore mudslides are a real possibility. How bad this could get is unknown

We drove over the Sierra Nevada mountains near Lake Tahoe last week. Absolutely beautiful, but some areas still had snow on the ground. I would never drive up there in snow, and after several decades living in the upper Midwest, I know how to drive in snow.

It's funny to watch big cities shut down because of a dusting of 10 inches of snow. Especially down south. What is the deal?

CA is a desert and only needs a couple of inches of water for flash floods and massive mud slides. once the snow starts to slip there will be more than two inches of water.

Not all of California is a desert. Only the Mohave area.

You point out all these extreme weather events but some how think they are proof that climate change isn't happening.

The mind boggles.

Snowfall is hardly an extreme weather event...Do you people never tire of living in a constant state of hysterical handwaving agitation?
If California snow in may isn't unusual why is skipper there so excited about it?

Have you ever considered limiting yourself to something you actually know?

The mountainous areas slated for snow typically receive 40 to 80 inches of moisture a year.

It isn't unusual...You were the one breathlessly calling it "extreme"...His comment was based on the failed prediction of climate science that snow was a thing of the past and children just wouldn't know what snow was.
