Cain picks John Wayne site for Iowa stop on Sunday

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain will campaign this weekend in Winterset, birthplace of actor John Wayne.

Presidential contender Michele Bachmann made headlines while in her native Waterloo on Monday when she told a Fox News reporter: “John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That’s the kind of spirit that I have, too.”

Bachmann was criticized for failing to know her Iowa history even as she tries to stress her Iowa nativity.

Both Cain and Bachmann are gunning for support from tea party activists and other conservatives. She will campaign at a tea party bus tour rally on Saturday in Des Moines, and will speak at a suburban evangelical church Sunday.
