Buying a New Car This Week

I can not decide what I want. I'm not looking to spend much, around $4,000-$4,500. Tomorrow I'm going to look at a 2006 Pontiac G6 GT hard top convertible and then a 2006 Eclipse. I also found a 2003 Nissan 350z for $4,000. I also like a 2007 Dodge Nitro I found for $4,000. I also like the Dodge Caliber and Dodge Avenger. I don't know what to do!

the best car we have for gas mileage is our 2010 chevy colbalt 5 speed manual trans

if one is not a lead foot it gets around 42 mpg for us

it has had a couple of problems all of which are recall items so it has not cost us a dime to repair

/——/ Forget the Pontiac. Never buy an orphaned car unless it’s a rare collectible.

I'm looking for something good on gas since I drive about 150 miles a day to school. My Expedition is killing me on gas.
/——/ You’re taking a chance with a high roller for that kind of daily driving. Ok for around town but not 150 miles a day.

I highly recommend that you buy either a Toyota Civic or a Toyota Camry.

Civic gets a little bit better gas milage, but the Camry has a more comfortable ride. Both cars require very little maintenance.

The advantage the Toyota's have over the Honda is they have a timing chain not a timing belt, which must be replaced at regular scheduled intervals and isn't cheap. Have a timing belt break driving down the road and your engine is toast.

Keep the oil changed at regular intervals and you'll get 300+ miles out of the Toyota engine. Plus it's extremely rare to hear of a Toyota transmission failure. ...

Go to Edmunds.com

Type in the year and model of the car that you want to buy.

Then read the customer reviews. (owners opinions)

Your will quickly ascertain whether the car you are considering to purchase is a keeper or to avoid. ...

Nissan's crown jewel. For the money, the 2004 Nissan 350Z is one of the best performance buys on the market."

You are reading what the automotive journalists say.

What you need to read is what owners, both past and present, have to say about the car.

Seek out the "customer reviews" on the Edmunds site. ..

Those are almost all positive too, other than complaints about cruise control and lack of luggage space.

If someone buys one of these cars looking for luggage space they are a fucking idiot.
