Never trust any politician. Furthermore, never trust a politician who promises you free anything. The idea that the government is going to take over the health care of every American is silly. This will take the profit out of the equation. When ever thee is no profit, there is no reason to pursue a career there. Let alone you'll kill any new innovations in modern medical procedures and or pharmaceutical breakthroughs.

College tuition is on the rise. I thought that liberals where supposed to make everything easy to acquire. Liberals run institutions of higher learning and yet the cost keeps going up and up. This is done by design in order for the government to take over another large segment of our nations economy.

I wonder where this sort of thinking will ever end. Maybe the government should take a good hard look at their own obscene win-fall profits.

Here's a good rule of thumb.

Where ever Liberals are in charge, you can guarantee there's a fiscal mess.

Liberals love to point at a government surplus and see it as a success.

In reality a government surplus means there's too much money being collected by the government.

Deficits are the number that government needs to be reduced.

So a 4 trillion dollar deficit means the government is way too big.

Maybe they should stick to fixing roads, bridges, and fighting wars. The rest needs to be private.

Obama was selling pay to play luxury boxes in that football stadium last night.

Do you think McCain is doing that?

McCain wants to separate the government from the private sector. Obama is no a puppet for corporate interests.

It's called fascism. That National Socialist rally in Denver should make your hair stand on end. It looked a lot like 1938...

Hard to disagree too much with that.

Obama was selling pay to play luxury boxes in that football stadium last night.

The 'pay' comes from closing loopholes and tax shelters in the tax code that benefit big corporations (oil etc). 95% of working americans will see more of their hard earned pay under the Obama plan discussed last night. Tax CUTS for 95% of americans.

The government shouldn't be socialist, but it also shouldn't be a puppet of the corporations.

I am becoming convinced that we've gone too far towards giving government handouts to corporations.

If your tax bill is already zero. should you or would you get money distributed to you under obama's plan? I cannot see it being resonable to give someone money if their tax bill is already zero. If 30% of tax payers already have a zero tax bill, how will 95% of americans keep more of their money with Obama's plan?

it's the fuzzy math working again buy people are probably dumb enough to think they will get a tax bonus for being poor.

I don't think you should. Any such money should be used to reduce the debt (duh) and, in my opinion, shift our energy responsibly away from fossil fuels. In the short term, shift to financially tenable sources like clean coal/ natural gas, and in the longer term shift to renewables nuclear, solar, wind, etc. This is a worthwhile goal from an environmental as well as national security pov.

I don't know that this is the case, but I'd appreciate some references on it.... It sounds like a red herring, or fuzzy math.

THe BLACK MAN is coming to take away your money Dilloduck!

Maybe you should move someplace where tax laws aren't stickly enforced.

Russia is, I'm told, a place where a bright young ambitious man like yourself can make a lot of money and avoid taxes.

Here are a couple of references: The Tax Foundation - Number of Americans Outside the Income Tax System Continues to Grow and http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/88xx/doc8885/12-11-HistoricalTaxRates.pdf

98% of all filers who m=pay no taxe make sless than $40 K a year.

24% of them are children and students

Overall, nearly 58 million taxable households are outside of the income tax system.

FYI there were about about 106 million households in America in 2000.

That means slightly less than half the households in this nation make so little money that they don't pay federal INCOME TAXES.

Let me remind you all, however, that they pay social security taxes, sales taxes, real estates taxes, fees, fines and whathave you, often at exactly the same rate of taxation as billionaires.

I have yet to ever find the TOTAL TAXATION that all Americans pay. This would include all taxes levied by any government organization for any purpose whatever.

I susupect what you find is that the superwealthy that the class traitors on this board are so concerned about pay a rather small percentage of eh overall tax burden in this nation.

If it's 25% I'd be surrpised, to be honest.

My guess is it's probably less than 10% of ALL taxes Americans (or ALL classes) pay in total.

No wait...some of you might find this most illuminating.

It apparently is attmpting to determine the answer to the question of who pays taxes (ALL TAXES) in this nation

The Tax Foundation - Which Taxes Weigh Most Heavily on Americans with Different Incomes?

Here are some interesting facts about the total tax burdens in Table 1:
  • State-local sales and gross receipts taxes cost households in the bottom 40 percent of earners more than federal income taxes sent to Washington each year.
  • For households in the bottom 20 percent, state-local sales and gross receipts taxes and property taxes ($1,814) are larger than all the federal taxes they pay each year combined ($1,684).
  • For households in the bottom 80 percent of earners, federal payroll taxes make up a larger slice of the annual household tax bill than federal income taxes.
  • For households in the bottom 20 percent of incomes, the burden of federal corporate income taxes--paid in the form of lower wages and lower stock returns--is greater than federal income taxes.
  • U.S. households on average spend $511 per year on federal, state and local gas taxes. For households in the middle 20 percent of incomes, federal payroll tax burdens are about 14 times higher than federal gas tax burdens. Federal corporate income tax burdens are about 3.6 times higher than gas taxes for that group.
  • Despite earning much lower incomes, households in the second 20 percent pay more dollars of cigarette excise taxes per household than those in the top income group. The largest per-household tobacco taxes are paid by the middle 20 percent of earners.

According to your link, the top 20% represent 49% of the total tax burden and the bottom 40% represent 14% of the total tax burden.

It is good to be surprised every now and then.
