Hundreds Of Thousands Turn Out For People s Climate March In New York City

NEW YORK -- More than 300,000 people turned out for the People's Climate Marchin New York City on Sunday, just days before many of the world's leaders are expected to debate environmental action at the United Nations climate summit.

Early reports from event organizers are hailing the turnout as the largest climate march in history, far bigger than the Forward on Climate rally held in Washington, D.C., last year. High-profile environmentalists including Bill McKibben, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jane Goodall and Vandana Shiva marched alongside policymakers such as Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.). U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and former Vice President Al Gore were also there, and more than 550 buses carried in people from around the country.

Follow along for live updates below.

The rally comes at an opportune time as 120 world leaders, including President Barack Obama, are expected to convene Tuesday at the United Nations in New York to discuss ways to tackle the growing threat of carbon pollution.

Hey Staph, let's roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hottest summer on record, maybe the hottest year on record.

Nothing is happen. Email Rush.

Tens of thousands of people marched through Manhattan sounding an urgent call for action to reverse global climate change Sunday.

The Environmental Defense Fund said it expected up to 100,000 people to walk, while the New York Police Department predicted about 30,000 would participate.

Tens of thousands? Not hundreds of thousands. Kind of reminds you of sheep doesn't it?

Official city police report less than 100,000..

However many they were, they're infinitely more than Skookerassbigot's ad nauseum-ly repeated "no one".

Really, socialists are the people that care..... Looks like the The Occupy Wall Street protesters have found a new way to attack capitalism.

Actually s0n.....its "nobody". Which still holds by the way, particularly when almost invariably, the marchers are made up of far left fringe elements = nobody. Its being able to think on the margin s0n, which AGW people don't do too well......the big picture thinking is lacking. Like Ive said.......its not an intelligence thing, which is why I never call anybody "retarded" on here. Thought processing is something very different.

n.
1. A decorative border or edging of hanging threads, cords, or strips, often attached to a separate band.
2. Something that resembles such a border or edging.
3. A marginal, peripheral, or secondary part: "They like to hang out on the geographical fringes, the seedy outposts" (James Atlas).
4. Those members of a group or political party holding extreme views: the lunatic fringe.
5. Any of the light or dark bands produced by the diffraction or interference of light.
6. A fringe benefit.

In other words, almost all of the marchers were hard core socialist radicals/part of the AGW religion.

= nobody cares

Those with thought process issues are the same ones who throw up statistics that dont matter ( see solar growth/EV growth ). When your thinking is such that it never enters your mind to ask yourself the ?, "As compared to what?"......that's a thought processing issue. Most of the population DOES ask themselves that question.

A lot of those people carrying signs saying "stop fracking".........complete lunatics if they think that's going to happen ( notice I don't say "retarded"......lunatic thinking is a thought processing issue ). Meanwhile out here on LOng Island, town crews are out constantly ripping up 12" wide sections of pavement for natural gas accessibility.......makes driving on secondary roads around here impossible..........

.........but if the marchers message had any teeth, people would be out protesting the town crews ripping up our streets. Ummmm........they aren't. Know why? They like the idea of cheaper energy bills.( something that is of ZERO importance to any AGW devotee )

The AGW folks are pounding their chests triumphantly this am.......but in the bigger picture, the impact is zilch after a day or two. Because nobody cares........which Ive displayed clearly in here so many times its dizzying.

Unless the AGW fringe can show me where their march is making an impact???:fu::fu::fu::fu::fu::fu::fu:

All the former anti-war protesters have to do SOMETHING now that there is a democrat in the white house dropping the bombs.

New York climate march attracts nearly 400 000 people Fox News

The People’s Climate March in New York has attracted nearly 400,000 people, say organizers, making it the largest climate march in history.

The march aims to shine a spotlight on environmental issues ahead of the U.N. Climate Summit on Sept. 23. U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon took part in the two-mile march through the streets of Manhattan, along with musician Sting and actors Leonardo di Caprio and Mark Ruffalo. Former vice president Al Gore and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio also were present.

Attendance at the New York march dwarfs the 50,000 people who took part in the Forward on Climate rally in Washington, D.C., last year, and the 80,000 who attended a march at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in 2009. Organizers had predicted that more than 100,000 demonstrators would attend the Manhattan march.

Fox news puts it at almost 400,000. Looks like a good many people care that we are mucking up the future for our children and grandchildren.

paid volunteers and wackos...no one ever said that there weren't plenty of them.. a couple of hundred thousand showed up....how many hundreds of millions passed? The most important question is what sort of mess did they leave behind?...those save the earth types are invariably pigs...

Don't know the difference between a mail box and a garbage can?

Care to compare that to the mess created by the acquisition and use of fossil fuels?

Do you use and benefit from fossil fuels?...if it is as terrible as you claim, surely you have rejected their use and use no product that is the result of their use.

And it isn't just this march...it is every where they show up...remember the millions it cost to clean up after the "occupy" crazies not so long ago?
