I am clearly debating with a couple of grasshoppers:

The Grasshopper and the Ant

The Original (Conservative) Version:

The ant works hard in the sweltering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up food supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is foolish to work so hard, and so the grasshopper just laughs and plays all summer long. When winter comes, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold. The lesson? Work hard and be self reliant, because it's wrong to sponge off others!

The New (Liberal) Version:

The story starts out the same, but when winter comes, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving. CBS, NBC, ABC and CNN show up and provide film of the shivering grasshopper next to pictures of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast! How can it be that, in a country so rich, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Then a representative of the NAAGB (The National Association for the Advancement of Green Bugs) shows up on Night Line and charges the ant with "Green Bias" and makes the case that the grasshopper is the victim of 30 million years of greenism. Kermit the frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when he sings "It's Not Easy Being Green."

Bill and Hillary Clinton make a special guest appearance on the CBS Evening News and tell a concerned Dan Rather that they will do everything they can for the grasshopper who has been denied the prosperity he deserves by those who benefited unfairly during the Reagan Summers, or as Bill refers to it, the "Temperatures of the 80's". Richard Gephardt exclaims in an interview with Peter Jennings that the Ant has gotten rich off the "backs of grasshoppers", and calls for an immediate tax hike on the Ant to make him pay his "fair share".

Finally the EEOC drafts the "Economic Equity and Anti- Greenism Act", RETROACTIVE to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government. Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill appointed from a list of single-parent welfare moms (whocan only hear cases on Thursday afternoon between 1:30 and 3:00 PM when there are no talk shows scheduled).

The ant loses the case. The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food, while the government house he's in -(which just happens to be the ant's old house)- crumbles around him since he doesn't bother to maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow. And on the TV, (which the grasshopper bought by selling most of the ant's food), they are showing Bill Clinton standing before a wildly cheering group of Democrats announcing that a new era of "Fairness" has dawned in America.

THE END.........

I actually think thats quite insightful. Even though i know your a racist, there is hope that you can see things beyond just the color barrier. White people sponge off the government too. As well as there are Black and LAtino people who work hard and earn a good living for their families.

The analogy above lists the deeper concerns that i have with what we are facing today. Its a coordinated attack on our values as a country.

The smart rich and hardworking people deserve to be rewarded.

4 MORE YEARS

Dungboy...You're dismissed.

Bush kicks ass. He's the clear choice for any thinking reasonable person.

Only a blatant anti american could vote democratic at this point in time.

Comments like these are in indication of a lack of education and a lack of tolerance, or both.

I enjoy discussing politics with those whose views may differ from mine, this ability to debate without killing eachother is what makes our country great and differentiates between us and the former Iraqi regime.

Clearly you don't understand what it is to be an American. And I'll be the first to admit, this definition is constantly changing. When our country was founded being American meant freedom to practice ones own religion. Now, being American to most people is synonymous with freedom in general.

So you tell me in what way someone votes conflicts with freedom... it is the very definition of it.

I believe your view to be more Anti-American than those you critique.

Neither actually, regardless of your spurious assertions.

You're the one making personal attacks.

If they use their vote to make society less free that's using a freedom to reduce freedoms. See? It's not hard. You're just being erroneously dismissive.

Well I disagree. Libs have positioned themselves to benefit politically when things go bad. There is no hope or vision on that side of the aisle. They've given up even trying to sell their vision to the public. Consequently they vassalate between lying about george bush, and denying their actual beliefs when in a situation where they know they're actual beliefs will not serve them well politically. we have the house, the senate and presidency. there's a reason for that. No one buys your socialist crap anymore. And those are, by the way, not the principles america was founded upon.

Well, I don't know what else to say to you, RWA.
I didn't personally attack you--I criticized you for calling me Anti-American.
You said that anyone who does not vote for Bush is Anti-American, I quote:

"Only a blatant anti american could vote democratic at this point in time."

Buddy, that's just illogical. I'd hate to live in YOUR America.

Call that a personal attack if you want, I'm over it. There are others here willing to discuss issues.

A grasshopper like nycflasher,
will never understand the lives of a ant.

Fine. Keep on pretending that the modern democrats believe in the principles america was founded upon. They don't. they want socialism and they want to subjugate america to the socialist in europe. They're not good americans.

If you're the ant, no. Funny you call me a grashopper, at 6'5" I always thought of myself as more of a Daddy Longlegs. That's what my college teammates called me ;-)

I didn't really bother to read what you wrote because I get little insight out of reading anything you write anymore. You'll find that most people just dismiss you as a racist.

I don't reason with racists.

As long as you only believe in a one party system and don't believe in the power of the people to decide for themselves who they want to vote for... enough said. I'm surprised at you.

And I reiterate: Just because I won't be voting for Bush, does not make me un-American.

You are now officially grouped with Big D as someone not capable of having a reasonable and logical discussion. How do I block these guys?

I support your right to vote for who you want. I just disagree with you assessment of the direction the country should go. And I advocate my position.
This "you're suppressing me" routine is getting old.

No. but voting for Kerry is, because he doesn't have the best interests of america at heart. In my opinion. This is all my opinion you know.

Like I care about your dimwitted classification sytem.

You're just running from a fight you're losing, commie.

Well NYC, you're at least half right. I am lacking in tolerance. I tire of the attitudes of folks like you and bullypulpit. You come across as smarmy, smart-mouth, self-righteous, know-it-all high schoolers and it's starting to wear a little thin.

Now don't mistake this as a personal attack. It isn't intended that way. I just want you to understand what bothers me about libs like you. It started with fmr. Pres. Clinton while he was running for his first tem in office against Pres. Bush Sr. You may recall the catch phrase "It's the economy, stupid."

With that one phrase, the democrats pulled the campaign into the gutter and it's been there ever since. It appears that the left wing, having been successful with one disrespectful, smartass campaign slogan, now thinks that more of the same is even better. Your party's representatives have made the most outrageous accusations imaginable. They have libeled and slandered the President, yet you do not seem to find their conduct objectionable. The entire primary has been a national embarrassment with each left winger trying to out-screech the next and inventing increasingly fantastic and ever more scurrilous accusations. These people have no respect for the office of President, yet they seek to gain it. They have done incalculable harm to this country under the guise of "service". And now here you are with your avatar showing Pres. Bush as an ayotollah and bullypulpit showing Pres. Bush with the satanic number "666" emblazoned across his forehead.

I do not challenge your right to dissent. But when you show nothing but disrespect and contempt for the leader of our nation, you reaveal your own character, or lack therof. You claim to strive for rational discussion, but you waste no time getting petty, nasty and vitriolic. You accuse others of lack of education and tolerance when it is you who appear totally incapable of accepting differing views. And no amount of education can compensate for the lack of common sense you occasionally display.

This November, George Bush will be re-elected to a second term. It will not be because he won the election. It will be because the democrats lost. They will lose because most Americans are smart enough to see through their cheap, dishonest tactics and most Americans are ethical enough to find those tactics repugnant.

Pulled the campaign into the gutter??? It works both ways Merlin. Remember those lovely Willy Horton ads that Bush used against Dukakis. I find those ads much more objectionable than the phrase "It's the economy, Stupid." One would have to work hard to develop an ad more adept at playing on overt and latent racism in the populace.

As for respect, there is only a certain amount of respect due the president just for being the president. History has shown that some monumental assholes can get elected president. You respect (or don't respect) them for what they do in office. I have no problem saying that Nixon was a prick. He was.

Well, thanks for your opinion. This is how rational people speak, generally.
Especially when you say don't take it as a personal attack. I don't.

Here's where I disagree though:

1. Well, first off, however I come off I am way outnumbered here so sometimes maybe I get a little jumpy. Compare this to how some people come off to me. ****** this. Pinko faggot that. And these are responses to my more reasonable posts, lol.

2. Also, many responses to me are directed towards liberalism. I don't think my views are so easily categorized.

3. Not sure what campaign tactics/ads have to do with anything. I'll post later on this as I am in the midst of a research project on it, but both parties have a pretty bad track record going back 200 years.

4. I reserve the right to question my president and even mock him. This is America. I have 2 cousins overseas and I question our President's motives for sending them there. So do they. They just won't admit it because they are too patriotic and it would be inappropriate in theater.

5. As for the rest of your defense of RWA he is an asshole and keeps avoiding issues favoring the term "pinko faggot." But hopefully we are past that.

6. I'll vote for Kerry just because I don't want another four years of Busch Light.

Well, I don't want to ramble on. Nice to meet ya. You didn't really have write a novel on it. Nor group with me others. I stand on my own. And so do they.

Excuse me, Reilly. Did I miss something? Willy Horton existed, did he not? He was a felon who was released from prison on a furlough program, right? The very program authored by Michael Dukakis? Horton's behavior while on furlough showed Dukakis' program to be ill-advised, to say the least-wouldn't you agree? Didn't this spectacular blunder constitute a legitimate campaign issue? Would you mind telling me what is so objectionable and racist about speaking the plain truth to the American people?
