Bush The Food Stamp President

Dems weren't the pres when 9/11, Katrina and the housing bubble collapsed.

The housing bubble and 9/11 were in play when Clinton was in office....
Katrina was just an F up all the way around....

It didnt happen under Clinton...no amount of weasel words will change that fact.

I didn't say it happened under Clinton.
I said they were in "play" during Clinton. It was during his time that people started getting loans that shouldn't have, and it was during his time that 9/11 was being planned and probably wouldn't have happened if Clinton had taken Bin laden when he had a chance.

Asked and answered.

Food stamps increasing during recession = good.
Food stamps increasing during expansion = bad.

:lol:cop out city

further, so bush DID have an expansion? things were good? not one more person that when he was sworn in needed or required foodstamps?

What cop out? It's sound economics. It's the same reason deficits during recession are good.

Maybe you should take an Econ class and get back to us.

maybe you shouldn't play games or be willfully ignorant....unless of course you are willing to admit up front obama has been pretty much a disaster. read my original remark again, the irony is stark enough, even for you.

You cant have it both ways...Bush existed and his policies had an effect on Obamas term. You cant only use the "in play" bullshit to blame dems only

Well then if Bush left us with a shity economy wouldn't the congress that was in session also bear some of the blame? Also the economy was going down when Bush became President should we blame Clinton? This just blaming one party when another party controlled the government in part or whole for over 60 years has got to stop . Democrats have fucked America as much if not more than the Republicans. And you stupid fucking partisan hacks are to damn stupid to see it.

No, but pretending that Obama put all these people on food stamps and Bush's hands are clean is bullshit.

But pretending that obama has been in office for three years and should not bare the blame now is hypocritical. 64 MILLION Americans are on food stamps obama is president .

Nobody in Washington has "clean hands", Closed...both parties have been handing out entitlements to win votes for decades. My problem with Obama is his choice to pursue ObamaCare FIRST while putting the economy and unemployment on the back burner, something which led to so many people losing their life's savings and being forced onto programs like food stamps. That was a deliberate decision by this Administration and they have to bear responsiblity for the result. I personally think it was a horrible choice given the circumstances. Progressives saw that they had a "mandate" from the people because of the dire situation we were in...but rather than use that mandate to solve problems with the economy...they chose to go after the Far Left's "Holy Grail" of universal health care instead.

Obama also had almost a trillion dollars to play with in the Stimulus and chose to use it to support those that supported him in the election...public sector unions and "Green industry"...while letting the private sector twist in the wind. How many of those people on Food Stamps are government workers? Almost zero? The people that have been hit hardest by this are those in the private sector that were essentially ignored by this administration. They've had their unemployment benefits extended but now even those have run out and they are having an even more difficult time finding work because employers shy away from those who haven't worked for a long period of time. The truth is the Obama Administration has a very "laissez faire" approach to job creation in the private sector...they seem to feel that their job is to protect the public sector and let the private sector muddle along as best they can, which would be fine except that they have repeatedly stepped in to put roadblocks in front of job creation in the private sector...whether it be lawsuits to stop plants being built in right to work states or threatened EPA regulations on green house gas emissions. The only exception to this policy of course is if the industry in question is "green"...then this administration will fast track approvals and steer huge sums of taxpayer money their way...even if the business model is as flawed as Solyndra, the Chevy Volt, or high speed rail.

Again you are laying the entire blame on Obama and none of the blame on Bush. In fact, you haven't said that both are to blame yet! Clinton shares te blame with GWB but GWB shares no blame at all. In fact, nothing That ever happened under Bush is his fault. The right pretends his presidency only effected the years he was in office. The month Obama moved in, the right tried to drop everything from Iraq to the Economy in his lap. It's bullshit.

Who has been president for three years? If you want to blame one past president you will have to blame a lot of past presidents. I think Woodrow Wilson is a good starting point.

With all due respect, Closed...it's not like Iraq or the Economy were some "surprise" that Obama encountered upon entering the Oval Office. If you'll recall, Barack Obama campaigned that he had the answers to those problems and that he would "hit the ground running" to fix things.

It's now three years later and he's still trying to figure out what his "plan" is going to be. It's hard to pretend that you have a firm grasp on the country's fiscal policy when you can't even submit a legitimate budget and have to rely on "super committees" to come up with needed spending cuts.

Let's not forget about that part. obama did say he had a plan.

Ah, we've got almost 46,000,000 people on food stamps now...the highest number ever. The number has DOUBLED since Bush left office. Obama hasn't just "lived with it"...his policies have produced an economy where long term unemployment has turned millions of Americans into "wards of the State" dependent on handouts to survive.
Hmm. And yet none of you have ever been to say how he did this.

Interesting.
It's no different than Obama being blamed for the TOTAL of unemployed.....when unemployment was STILL rising, in early 2009, as a result of BUSHCO's policies.....

It's the same with food-stamps......

January 19, 2012

"It's possible that when the figures for January 2012 are available they will show that the gain under Obama has matched or exceeded the gain under Bush. But not if the short-term trend continues. The number getting food stamps declined by 43,528 in October. And the economy has improved since then.

The figures also show the rise in food stamps began before Obama took office, and accelerated as the nation plunged into the worst economic recession since the Great Depression.

The economic downturn began in December 2007. In the 12 months before Obama was sworn in, 4.4 million were added to the rolls, triple the 1.4 million added in 2007."

So Bush wins on volume, and Obama wins on velocity: In just a few years, President Obama managed to expand the program by nearly as much as Bush. But Obama didn’t do it without some help from his Republican predecessor, who approved policy changes that set the stage for the program’s current growth.

Obama 46.2 million
Bush 14.7 million
Obamush over 60 million

What Pauli is choosing to ignore is the fact that the number of people receiving food stamps is currently dropping.

Shh. Don't tell him.

So the amount spent on food stamps has more than doubled under Obama but because the number of people on them is "currently dropping" everything is OK? You Obama apologists kill me with this stuff. To use an analogy...it would be like a submarine plunging two thousand feet to the depths of the ocean but the captain telling the crew that they're OK because he's managed to bring the boat up a hundred. 2,000 or 1900...YOU'RE STILL GONNA DROWN!!!

Nope. Didn't say that. Didn't even hint it or imply it. Did you read my post?

I was merely responding about Pauli who seems to think the number is rising. It's not.

Er..yes, it is rising.

"The number of Americans receiving food stamps rose to a record 45.753 million in May, up 2.5 percent from the previous month, the Department of Agriculture said."

The number of Americans receiving food stamps under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program has set records every month but one since December 2008."
