Bush Leads Kerry by 11 Points in Time Magazine Poll
Sept. 3 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush widened the lead in his re-election race against Democrat John Kerry to 11 percentage points, according to a Time magazine poll taken during the week of the Republican National Convention.

Bush got 52 percent support over 41 percent for Kerry among 926 likely voters surveyed nationwide in an Aug. 31-Sept. 2 telephone poll.

Polls mean squat still. If they release that Bush is comfortably ahead it might affect turnout. Dont get lazy now.

I agree. Everyone should work on GW's campaign that feels strongly. Granted the convention went well, but you cannot allow hubris to get the better of you. The WOT could deliver many surprises, not too mention oil prices as only one factor in the economy.

I agree that the polls probably aren't too accurate right now, and that it will probably come back down to a 5-6 point Bush lead. But this is still significant. Bush has an 11 point lead, and both Bush and Kerry are at their peak and nadir, respectively, since Kerry wrapped up the Dem nomination.

And Kerry's camp knows it too. They are in panic mode, as evidenced by several stories on http://www.instapundit.com/ .

Nobody should get cocky at this point. The fact that JflipperK still gets 40% in the polls should scare the shit out of everyone. Look at some of the posters on this board who are so warped by their hatred of Bush. If they do bother to even reply to anything, it's usually by changing the subject or attacking on a different issue. (Just like Flipper)

Most of the posters on this board are political junkies. A very very large segment of the population is not as passionate about all this............

One of the teachers that was 'so moved' by Zell's speech, came to school this morning raving about how Kerry had 'come back' last night. Geez, even the idiots on Slate were going bonkers over what he'd done. Cannot underestimate the passion on the left.

Kerry looked like the absolute ass that he is last night. How many mainstream people stayed up until midnight to listen to his Moorish rantings? He can't reply to any of the issues, he has to rant about his "war hero" status being questioned. What a loser.........

Hey, you are preaching to the choir, especially about staying awake! Shoot, I didn't make it to the end of GW's speech! Now you see the danger, the 'idiots' which includes an incredible number of teachers, will look for any excuse to grab onto the other side. It's the reason that if you are for GW, it's imperative that you do more than preach to the choir.

Whats interesting about this poll is its before the convention was over. I think the last night and Kerry's implosion afterwards was the best parts. i dont think those were factored in this poll.

Actually, their numbers are enough to make changing their minds is important. Think those that 'lean' right, but have problems with 'preemption', 'prolife', and 'tax relief'.
