When did cybersecurity become a priority in defending America post 9-11?

If I recall there was nothing virtual then, and nothing about what Islamic fundamentalists will attempt to do to murder Americans is about cyberspace.

If they want to crash the IRS network they're welcome to it.

they could easily crash airplanes by hijacking the FAA's system, or attacking the Energy Dept.'s servers, or god knows what else. There is actually a lot of damage that can be done by cyberterrorism. Just like people used to claim the idea of airplanes slamming into skyscrapers was outrageous, so people still claim massive cyberterrorism is impossible. when it happens, they won't be so eager to doubt its potency or devastation.

now if you wanna crash the irs network.. well that wouldn't be such a bad loss...

I don’t think it’s been too big of a concern because we had echelon in place for some time now. http://www.space.com/businesstechnology/technology/echelon_011121-1.html
And now we have the crown jewel TIA http://www.thememoryhole.org/policestate/iao-logo.htm

Both these programs will give an excellent heads up to any future terrorist intent or beginning of action. When this Oracle is in full operation, there will be no excuse for not knowing about future attacks.
