Burning the Village

One of the singular phrases reflecting the madness of the Vietnam War was "...sometimes you have to burn a village in order to save it."

Attributed to an American infantry major by left-wing reporter Peter Arnett, and later proven to be made up, the phrase reflected the true mindlessness that was our involvement in Vietnam.

That phrase is an apt description of the experience we are about to face over the next four years with Barack Obama.

The recrimination pundits are in full force saying Republicans need to adopt amnesty for illegals, get with it on gay marriage, drop those abortion fanatics, and get back to the big tent.

There is nothing Republicans can do, literally nothing, that can match the overwhelming, concentrate-the-mind type force that the pain coming over the next four years will deliver.

We are out of dough, period. Raise taxes as much as you want, the spending will still bury us. We are out of jobs -- business is going to hire only the minimal number of people, at part-time wages wherever possible, for the foreseeable future. High unemployment, particularly in the ghettos, is here to stay.

And Obama, indeed you own it.

College students, again apparently voting for their hip guy Obama, feel the pain.

Elections have consequences we were told four years ago. Well, now it's our turn-the turn of those with the common sense to know jobs are not created by government.

So, feel the pain, first-time job hunters.

Feel the pain, minimum wage earners.

Feel the pain, Northern Virginia and Connecticut defense industry workers.

Obamacare is kicking in -- feel the pain -- the taxes, the loss of insurance, the confusion, the dropping of your company's health insurance.

Whether Romney was articulate enough to deliver a "conservative vision" will pale when compared with the articulate, well spoken, precisely messaged news coming our way -- more unemployment, business contraction, companies replacing workers with software, outsourcing.

Obama is going to double down on his socialist agenda so that even the messaging from the lapdog media will be very clear -- Obama cannot get us jobs. Enough pain may make up for lack of education and a total lack of common sense.

When there are serious, long-term contractions, the weakest, the poorest get pushed to the wall. Those are the Obama voters -- not all of them, but most. Feel the pain.

We'll see.
