The Obama administration is roundly denouncing plans to burn copies of the Quran. Christian leaders rightly condemn it as "appalling" and "disgusting" and say it "violates both our Christian and American identities."

So why the silence when Bibles were burned?

(CNN) May 22, 2009 — Military personnel threw away, and ultimately burned, confiscated Bibles that were printed in the two most common Afghan languages amid concern they would be used to try to convert Afghans, a Defense Department spokesman said Tuesday.
The unsolicited Bibles sent by a church in the United States were confiscated about a year ago at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan because military rules forbid troops of any religion from proselytizing while deployed there, Lt. Col. Mark Wright said.
Such religious outreach can endanger American troops and civilians in the devoutly Muslim nation, Wright said.
“The decision was made that it was a ‘force protection’ measure to throw them away, because, if they did get out, it could be perceived by Afghans that the U.S. government or the U.S. military was trying to convert Muslims,” Wright told CNN on Tuesday.
Troops at posts in war zones are required to burn their trash, Wright said.
The Bibles were written in the languages Pashto and Dari.

Well, it is said that those who do not believe in Jesus CHrist shall perish. Pretty important to let Muslims know that sort of thing. It gets complicated when those same Muslims threaten to kill you for your faith.

First, there are apparently more Christians on the left than the right, since Democrats are more likely to believe Jesus will return before 2050 than Republicans.

Second, most of the criticism toward Islam I see is directed toward Islam, not Muslims. I could explain the difference, but you would ignore it if I did.

Third, most of the intolerance is directed toward Christians on this board, not from them.

I didn't say anything about religious hate, I spoke more generally of intolerance. If you want to get right to it, my third sentence is an opinion, but it is based on my observation. Since I do not read every thread, it could be wrong, but it is not nonsense.
