Buffett: Tax cuts for all but the rich

How do you explain how a marketing manager and an accounting who make a combined income of $250K per year are at all analogous to a multi-billionaire such as Buffett who already has so much sheltered wealth that taxes are irrelevant to his life style and financial security?

Nothing's stopping Buffett from volutarily giving all of his money to the government if he so chooses. Why the upper levels of the middle class should be dragged along has nothing to do with taxes and a great deal to do with Buffett's psychological deficiencies.

Yep hes the only guy whos opinion matters. Im sure there are no other rich people who are financially and economically intelligent who would dissagree with Mr. Buffet. I agree that he can voluntarily give all his money to the government if it makes him feel better. Why doesn't anybody ever do that?

How do you explain that you just described me and my wife and yet Im completely ok with letting the cuts expire for the "rich"? I realize the money has to come from somewhere and better to be from people who do have it, then those who don't.

Great. Donate your own money if you wish. Just don't force your worldview on the rest of us.

LOL, one of THE greatest financial minds in the modern era and yet you know more then him when it comes to money, right?

I should say the same thing to you. Don't force your worldview on me. Now where does that put us?

In the place we are now, Buffett and you don't put your money where your mouth is. He had a few billion laying around and didn't give it to the government, he gave it to charity. Why do you think that is?

So because he donated above and beyond what the government asked for in the way of taxes he somehow did something wrong? He said he should be paying more in taxes because of how much he makes.

I want to pay my fair share just like he does, which apparently you don't want us to. Thanks for looking out for us uninformed "rich" folk though.

Whats the definition of "fair share"? And why doesn't he donate more to the government? More than is asked of him now. That would set an example.

Buffett had extra money. He did not give it to the government. Why not?

I think 36% on my income and 7% of each employee's wage are more than my fair share since I'd have more money to invest in my company, create jobs, profit more, and remit more in taxes if those rates were reduced.

No, let's ask the Austrailian. You listen to his station, FOX all the time. Yup, let the Austrailian set our economic policies. Its the American way, right?

Nope. Everyone can make up their own by drawing from many peoples opinions, ideas and statistics. I'm saying Warren Buffett isn't the end all, be all , do all for the tax policy of America just because he himself is rich.

That puts the both of y'all in the place of you minding your own damned business....Something that would be a new experience for Fabian socialist do-gooders everywhere.

He's already given 90% of his wealth to the Bill and Mellisa Gates foundation, moron.

He's stating his opinion, moron, not forcing his world view on anyone. That's what our elected representatives are supposed to do.

But that would involve honesty and integrity. Shame on you for suggesting such perversion of Political Correctness!

Warren Buffett said it's time to raise taxes on the 'very rich' -- and perhaps cut them for the rest of the population.

Buffett, the billionaire investor who runs Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA), said Tuesday at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington that the nation's tax code "has gotten distorted to a huge extent," by levying higher taxes on secretaries and janitors than on CEOs and private equity whiners.

He called, as he has in the past, for policymakers to redress that iniquity by raising taxes on the rich. Buffett said taxes will have to rise in general in coming years if we want to dig our way out of a giant budget deficit.
