Buffett noted Monday that the mega-rich pay income taxes at a rate of 15 percent on most investment income but practically nothing in payroll taxes. The middle class, meanwhile, typically falls into the 15 percent and 25 percent income tax brackets and is hit with heavy payroll taxes. He said Washington legislators "feel compelled to protect us, much as if we were spotted owls or some other endangered species."

Buffett said he knows many of the mega-rich well, and most wouldn't mind paying more in taxes, especially when so many fellow citizens are suffering. He also said he has yet to see anyone shy away from investments because of tax rates on potential gains, even when rates were much higher in the mid-1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

This is what I don't get.

If he's got enough cash to beg to get him and his buddies taxed more.

Why doesn't he hire more people?
Give bonuses or raises to the people he has?

Let them have jobs and pay taxes.

If he doesn't "need" employees, have him call Jack Black about his personal ball washer.

Not only that, but people like his secretary (the most worn-out example on Earf) are paid in salary, fringies and bonuses, while Punxutawney Warren makes his money off of cap gains.

Here's something that the liberoidals might wrap their heads around....Maybe people who work for wages and salaries are taxed too much?

The slamming sound you heard were liberal brains shutting and locking that out.

Buffet should send all his money to the US treasury, where it will be spent in 5 minutes and 13 seconds, and then shut his mouth.

Buffet is merely shilling for Obama.

If he was serious he would write a check on April 15 for 2 or 3 BILLION dollars. He wouldn't even miss it and while he was at it, he could talk "many of his mega-rich" pals into doing the same thing.

There is no law saying the IRS can't accept an overpayment of taxes.

All he and his buddies have to do is just mark on their income tax return and put down how much more they would like to contribute. Then write a check, I don't understand what is stopping them from doing just that. They could donate 90% of their income and be really really happy.

Instead of giving his stock to a tax free trust why didn't he give them to the government?

Tax change has got to be made. There is no reason that someone who is mega rich is only paying 15% on their income--when the middle class suffers from 25% income tax rate. And while we're at it--I want the 47% of the American working public who pay ZERO federal income tax to start paying their fair share also.

I agree here.

What I do not agree with is Barack Obama's attack on small business'es in this country--with his continual threat that he is going to launch them into a 39% tax bracket if they hit the 250K mark--(they currently pay 33%) 39% is exactly the same tax bracket as large multi-billion dollar corporations pay.

If you add in state and local taxes--you are asking the hardest working--most innovative people in this country to pay .50 cents in taxes on every dollar they earn. In return, small business has tucked in like a turtle and is waiting for the threat to leave. That threat is Barack Obama.
