Mr Buffett said that he was taxed at 17.7 per cent on the $46 million he made last year, without trying to avoid paying higher taxes, while his secretary, who earned $60,000, was taxed at 30 per cent.

THE FACTS from the IRS
SOI Tax Stats - Individual Statistical Tables by Size of Adjusted Gross Income

Download the above IRS spreadsheet file that shows:

1) 86 million tax returns in 2008 paid 14% of their TAXABLE income in TAXES PAID!
2) The 86 million returns paid an average of $5,736
3) If Buffet secretary was paid $200,000 a year according to the below she paid 16%.
(13,370,297 tax returns with adjusted taxable income between $100,000 and
$200,000 paid 16.3% of their taxable income in taxes!)

So while Buffet paid 17.7% he was the exception!

IF YOU TAKE THE TIME AS I have that and download the above you will see that
THOSE FILTHY EVIL people that stole $5 million to $10 million or more a year???
These 14,236 people PAID 29.1% of their INCOME in taxes!!!

Buffet was the exception AND NOT THE RULE!

He lies. She didn't pay anywhere near 30%.

It's strange that while Buffet proclaims that the rich don't pay enough, he's having his lawyers fight the IRS for taxes that he owes. This just doesn't ring right with me....but, it just may be me.

He is talking about personal income tax rates, and his attorneys are dealing with the corporate arrears.

And I assume you already knew that.
