So, everyone who's not retarded seems to agree that federal spending needs to be cut for a lot of reasons.

The question is this: Just what should be cut?

A few proposals:

National Endowment for the Arts: There is no reason a taxpayer in Wisconsin should pay for someone's artistic curiosity in Florida.

Head Start: No difference has been found between children who attend and those who don't, by the 5th grade. We don't need federal daycare.

Food stamps: Assistance programs should be run by the states, which can manage their own areas and affairs. Should a state need more funds than they possess, then they can arrange loans with private banks, other states, or the Fed.

I'm trying to find a list of all the programs the Fed currently runs.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Edit:

The Pentagon spent $998,798 shipping two 19-cent washers from South Carolina to Texas, and $293,451 sending an 89-cent washer from South Carolina to Florida.

It is not a question of specific programs... nobody will dispute the need for some sort of military, for instance - personally I'd like to see our forces known as the 'Worlds Firefighters' instead of 'The Worlds Police', but that is a whole other issue.

The point being, it's a matter of style.

When we no longer have a system where some people have a bigger voice in government than others because of mercenary lobbying, the specific programs will sort themselves out.

 To nobody getting nuked before 'K' street rusts.

I assume that would include Fannie/Freddi/FhA and VA loans as well. Away with them.
Turn the highways over to the states and reduce the tax burden.

If not We, The People, who should take responsibility for offering a quality education to ALL of the nations children?

The Church?

Any average Joe with enough money to rent a building?

'Government' is not evil. Evil use of government is evil.

Kill the health care bill, pass a fair tax, abolish the IRS and watch the our debt drop.
