FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fresh off its bungled machine recount, Broward County’s second day of manual recounting temporarily stopped about an hour after it began Saturday when lawyers from both political parties pointed out that volunteers were counting the wrong ballots.

Hundreds of volunteers spent most of Friday sorting through 32,000 overvotes and undervotes in the Senate race between incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson and Republican Gov. Rick Scott. Broward officials announced Friday night they had finished their manual recount.

On Saturday, the volunteers started sorting about 22,000 undervotes and overvotes in the contentious contest for Florida Commissioner of Agriculture.

That came to a grinding halt when lawyers found thousands of overlapping ballots which clearly showed a vote in the agriculture race but were fuzzy in the Senate race.

"human error" ? Never let a good chance for use of the "conspiracy" card, go unused, right ? Sorry, but that speculation was passed quite a few days ago.

Those who lack morality or integrity might attempt to argue it's simply "human error" and competence. Even if that were the case, it’s still criminal incompetence. But that’s also clearly not the case. Even if one is incompetent, once they’ve been notified of their incompetence and ordered to comply – one can control effort. When effort isn’t placed on compliance, all doubt is removed.

No matter which political party a Supervisor of Elections may be from, it is imperative that in his/her selection, the choice must not go to an IDIOT.

She is not an idiot, she knows exactly what she is doing. Chaos is a very friendly environment for election fraud. It will be impossible for any entity to determine how many votes were fraudulent, or where the votes came from.

All the more reason to disregard this post-election day fiasco, and just accept the election day (November 6) results.

It should be very simple. You count the votes on election day, and announce the results the next day. And THAT'S IT. Too much fiddling going on.

And get rid of anybody who doesn't comply with proper procedure. Snipes should have been fired 2 years ago.

Yeah, it's a good thing those vote counters don't have to count their fingers and toes. They probably would find some digits missing. I was involved in a recount once and there's nothing hard about it.
