Oh My, this is going to cost me a pretty penny!!

We were at football practice tonight and right before practice starts the boy's always get out there and pass the ball back and forth. However tonight one of them was out there with his helmet on and my son William was running trying to catch the ball and ran into the child with the helmet. needless to say william left his mark, along wih his teeth! He managed to break his front tooth off about an 1/8 of an inch from the gum line like someone had cut it off with a knife it was so straight, and he also broke off part of the one next to it on the right not the other front tooth. Yes, these are permanent teeth we are talking about! So I will be at the dentist tomorrow trying to figure out what can be done about these teeth.

Hmmm, I have a similar problem but think I will get a denture being old and all.

look into getting implants maybe, I understand they can be worked up right of the original tooth.

I know that feeling I have been considering the same thing, seems like everytime I go to the dentist they want to do root canals on this one, and that one, why bother just pul them and give me fake ones. then I don't have to worry about them anymore!

Ouch! poor kid, that has got to hurt! I think they could probably cap the tooth too - either way, a costly thing! I know here a dentist charge $600/per tooth to cap. Insurance covered nothing of that! Good Luck!

How is Wm doing? Is he in any pain? Is he afraid of the dentist? Tell him I'm sorry it happened.

Yes, I am really curious to see how much our dental insurance is going to cover. I am grateful however that we do have dental, if this would have happened a month ago I would have been so screwed, we just got dental insurance last month!! I figure if it pays 50% thats better then me having to pay for all of it, which is what I believe they pay for major dental work, which I'm assuming this would fall under.

Actually he is doing quite well thank you, his coach came over after it happened to see what was going on, when he realized what had happen, he told william to go home he didn't need to practice tonight. well william started crying, he was all upset, he wanted to stay and practice, so i asked him if his teeth were hurting and he said no. one of the mom's on the team is a nurse we had her look at it and had him take a big drink of ice cold gator ade to see his reaction he said it didn't hurt when he drank it, so we came to the conclusion that the nerve was not exposed and he could practice if he wanted to.

That kid is one tough cookie!!!

I think he thinks it's cool he got his teeth knocked out playing football.

So I guess the answer is no he's not in any pain yet. As for being afraid of the dentist no he's not, but he may be after tomorrow, ecspecially if they have to give him novicaine in the front gums OOOOWWWWW god I hate that part it hurts. I will definatly be insisting on the nitrous oxide for him.

it's better than you paying 100%

Update on broken teeth .........

but first this..............Bush Kicked Ass!!!!......................oh, ok the teeth

went to the dentist today he took one look said he needs to see a specialist meaning pediatric dentist, however there is only one in our dental plan and he is over and hour away. So I went to the one the dentist referred us to instead, and she looked at them said the nerves were not exposed, thank god, no root canals yet, but he may still need a root canal in 4 or 5 years. She put a temporary covering on them until the following monday then she is going to cap both of them. Thank god for dental ins.!

football practice child breaks teeth...........

1st dentist $52.00

2nd dentist $500.00

Having my baby's smile back PRICELESS!!!!

That's good news. I'm glad the diagnosis was no worse than that.
