Perry Beeches 'superhead' Liam Nolan guilty of misconduct
The former head of an academy trust who drew a second salary from a private company contracted to his own schools has been found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.
A Teacher Regulation Agency misconduct panel ruled today that the actions of Liam Nolan, the former chief executive of the Perry Beeches chain, “lacked integrity”. The panel will now decide whether or not to prohibit him from teaching.
We are seeing more and more of this greed and dishonesty as our schools are handed over to the private sector. They are called Acadamies in the UK and i understand they are Charter schools in the US.
Its always money related. Overpaying senior people. Awarding contracts to buddies and claiming for work that hasnt been done.
Im not going to be dogmatic about it and lay all of the blame on the profit principle. There is no reason these wretched places cannot be a success. It does flag up the fact that the government controls are weak.
How do you manage this in the States ? Are these places a success and free of corruption ?
