Because they make our politicians look like fine upstanding citizens. And the people of Europe have a Union that they did not vote for. And it is a money pit. I could go on but it's not my business, I am just an observer. I live among them, I am not one of them.

Actually, I don't really discuss EU politics with Brits. For the simple reason that they don't care. What I know of the EU is from my own observations of it and a few books. There is an exceptionally good one - the name of which escapes me - that is just plain facts, no spin, just a bunch of facts and figures about the Union. Personally, I think anyone who read it would be horrified by it.

In my view? it is a Socialist Disaster area. Poor Greece...they are in turmoil, and the EU will support them but NOT monetarily? What's up with that?

I thought that they were one large Conglomerate of 'Happy Socialist States" ? [Rhetorical Question... ]

I spent a year there in the early 1980's. Wonderful, beautiful country, nice people on whole. been rife with riots for quite some time due to economic issues...

This is why I cautioned folks in post # 1 of the road we are headed down if we aren't careful.
