BP - Destroying our country, in a very real and literal sense.

BP oil spill hastened loss of Louisiana marshes, study says - The Washington Post
As the oil washed into the marshlands, it coated and smothered thick grasses at their edge. When the grass died, deep roots that held the soil together also died, leaving the shore banks of the marshlands to crumble, said Brian Silliman, the University of Florida researcher who led the new study.

...

In Louisiana’s Barataria Bay, oiled marshes eroded at about twice the rate of non-oiled marshes, receding nearly 10 feet per year, Silliman’s team found.

What did Obama do with the $20B he got from BP?

That would buy a lot of marsh grass

Great point!!! He probably spent it in the back seat of the choomwagon.

Or perhaps Obama did not get any of it because it was set aside by BP to cover claims of business owners and people who have had their lives and incomes destroyed by BPs mistake.

Of course, if you think they cut obama a check you are pretty much batshit insane. If you are going to actually complain it should be that obama let BP get away with such a small pittance of money for a problem that was caused because they ignored in place safety regulations. They should have killed the american side of BOP by forcing them to pay as much as they could for their fuck up. it isn't like we don't have enough other gas companies to pick up the slack as we wipe BP off the planet and sell off every bit of their corporate stooges houses and belongings. Oh, and who was it that allowed drilling in the gulf so we could have the same disaster happen for the second time. It is not like we have not seen a huge oil dump like this before in the gulf, just that the last time most of the pollution hit central american countries.

You both are such great American's, that you hate the leader of your own country, more than a foreign-based company trashing our shores.

There's a big difference between hating the leader, and hating the policies of that leader, but I don't think you're partisan blinders could ever see that loonboy. As for BP, they are quite a big part of the American economy. I'm sure you've seen their gas stations before. Rather than your partisan attacks please feel free to answer CrusaderFrank's question regarding the 20B BP paid in fines, and why it isn't being used in this case... If you can.

I've taken the liberty of highlighting the very reason people like you are so destructive to America and it's Economy, and it is that reason why Obama, and those who blindly follow him along his path of destruction must be sent packing in November. Your (and those in agreement's) disdain for America's energy independence (all in the name of the environment) is so completely irrational, and if left unchecked will result in America becoming nothing more than a two bit third world nation. Our nation runs on Oil, and rational people understand that unfortunately accidents can, and do happen. Until there is a viable replacement, destroying an industry that keeps food on people's tables because you don't like it is irrational, and not very well thought out.

No big deal. The marshes will all be under seawater in a hundred years anyway.

Notice how before the Deep Water Horizon disaster the company was known - and respected - universally across America as BP. Now that, in conjunction with two American contractors (who've conspicuously escaped the media spotlight) the company that contributes a noticable amount of GDP to the United States Treasury is now being identified as British Petroleum in order for the U.S. to distance itself from any culpability.

You'd be right at home in North Korea.

The right wing doesn't argue based on policy. See above. BP gave Obama 20 B. That's all we need to know. The actual policy - the fact its being used to pay financial claims against BP by those that BP financially harmed is totally irrelevant. What is relevant is a) its Obama, b) its 20 Billion dollars. Obama Bad.

What is the exaggeration? Are Louisiana marshes not part of the United States of America? Wouldn't destroying them literally be destroying part of the United States?

Do you know what words mean?

Yeah BP is the victim. And if they weren't producing the oil in the places where they are - no other company could possibly step in and take their place. It has to be them. Without them oil fields would lay untapped and the government wouldn't make any revenue off of them, because only BP would want to produce oil for a profit.
