A British engineer who moved to South Africa after "falling in love with the country" has been brutally murdered on his remote farmstead.

Mr Preece's daughter-in-law has told how a gang of three robbers poisoned the couple's large pack of guard dogs before breaking into the house.

Since the country's first fully democratic elections in 1994, more than 3,000 white, mainly Afrikaans, farmers have been killed in their homes.

The so-called "farm attacks" are part of the wave of criminality that has engulfed the country in recent years, something criminologists blame of a number of factors...

Have you ever researched white peoples history in South Africa?. They came to the land and murdered a lot of black people and took their land.! So now the blacks are killing whites in a effort to retake what originally was taken , by way of murder and mayhem
from their ancestors. The old saying, what goes around comes back around.!!

And before the whites showed up? The blacks murdered each other, took their land, enslaved their people, even sold the vanquished off as slaves to others. I think it's high time they recapture their pre-European culture.

The rate of farm attacks on South African soil is estimated to be 700% higher than in any other country in the world, according to Professor Christiaan Bezuidenhout, who said that the chances of a farmer being murdered on a farm in South Africa are anything between four to six times higher than the average murder risk rate for the general population. This emerged from a report released yesterday by the Solidarity Research Institute (SRI), which forms part of a national campaign against farm murders by the Solidarity Movement which includes the SRI, the trade union Solidarity, AfriForum and Kraal Uitgewers. “Farm murders and attacks should be recognised for the national crisis that it is and therefore deserving of priority status and focused attention,” the report said.
