Britain has universal health care, but they just can't get treated...

You really are an idiot if you think that any commercial service, just by virtue of being commercial, is automatically better than a government-provided service.

That's true, however I have never heard of a commercial ambulance company making a patient wait for 62 hours. You? Add to that the fact that because of the way they have to report when a patient arrives at the hospital it is not uncommon to have the ambulances driving around for hours so that they don't have to count the patient as delivered to the ER. Once again, please provide a link to ANY commercial company doing the same.

16,900 people in a week kept in NHS ambulances waiting for hospital care
Highest number of people this winter were forced to wait in back of ambulances during Christmas week in England

Record numbers of patients were forced to wait in the backs of ambulances last week as hospitals in England struggled to cope with demand for medical treatment as the NHS’s winter crisis began in earnest.

In all, 16,900 people – the highest number this winter – were stuck in the backs of ambulances waiting to enter an A&E unit to be assessed and treated in the week from Christmas Day to New Year’s Eve.

Of those, 4,700 – again the most in any week this winter – had to endure a delay of at least an hour, according to NHS England’s latest figures, published on Thursday, on how the service is performing under the extra pressure that winter brings.

Theresa May, on a visit to Frimley Park hospital in Surrey, apologised for delays to operations and hospital admissions, saying she recognised it was difficult for somebody who had had their operation postponed, and hoped procedures could be rescheduled “as soon as possible”.

Every system has its problems.
Making the blanket statement that government servces are bad and commercially-run services are good is just wrong.

You equate having to pay money for service as bad. I can bet you a large sum of cash that people forced to wait in an ambulance for hours would disagree with you.
No I don't.
I'm saying that no system is flawless.
It's pretty shitty if you don't have the momey to pay for service.
How about quoting some of the millions of happy NHS customers?

You are complaining about costs, costs which have NO IMPACT on the quality of service. Yet you give a pass to a government run system that ACTIVELY HARMS ITS PATIENTS. Like I said, you're pretty silly to even try and make that comparison.
Way to misrepresent my point!

Simply put - no system is perfect.

There's plenty of IMPACT on the quality of service if you can't afford said service.
Brits still have the option of private insurance, just the same as the US.
The difference is that they have the backup option of free healthcare (flawed or not) if they don't have/want or can't afford insurance.

I am sorry Moon Bat but it is not my responsibility to pay your health care bills. It is your responsibility.

That stupid socialized medicine bullshit is a crappy way to have a health care system but the sorry assholes that don't want to pay their own bills are pretty damn happy, aren't they?

The people that have to pay the health care bills for the sorry assholes that don't pay don't like it very much, do they?

Stop being greedy and start taking personal responsibility for your own well being. Stop being a welfare queen.
According to the argument of the OP and others "the sorry assholes that don't want to pay their own bills" aren't very happy at all because the service is shit.

I think you'll find that "The people that have to pay the health care bills for the sorry assholes" are generally happy with the arrangement.

Ask a Brit how they feel about The National Health and they will not smile. Whether or not that has anything to with doctors or hospitals is an open question. But it's plain (when a mouth is accidentally opened) that the failure of folks to smile speaks volumes about the quality of nationalized dental work. Note, I was careful not to say: "dental 'care'!

That's because your "point" is specious. No American is denied service. They use the ER's, which we taxpayers pay for. As usual you seem to think that insurance equals care. That is flat wrong. All insurance represents is a way to pay for the service. As we see in every socialized medical system, the care givers are few in number because they aren't paid a commensurate wage based on their skill levels.

Canada has terrible rates of care for the smaller communities. Even in the larger communities the wait times for essential cancer operations is eight months. We have a wing at Renown Hospital, here in Reno, that is called little Canada because of all of the people coming here to PAY for care that they would have to wait for. A wait that would result in their deaths in many cases.

OP is a lie as usual.

A spokesman said the figures were "not typical" and "represent the extreme end of the waiting time spectrum".

There are issues with the NHS but they are being caused by the conservative zealots who run our government. They are wedded to privatisation because of shit ideology and the fact that they all have finanacial interests in healthcare companies.

That being said our healthcare is still better than the US and nobody in the UK ever went bankrupt for getting sick.

The U.S. health care system has been rated the worst (by far) among high-income nations

Do Medical Bills Really Bankrupt America's Families?

Mirror, Mirror 2017: International Comparison Reflects Flaws and Opportunities for Better U.S. Health Care

The United States spends far more on health care than other high-income countries, with spending levels that rose continuously over the past three decades (Exhibit 1). Yet the U.S. population has poorer health than other countries. 1 Life expectancy, after improving for several decades, worsened in recent years for some populations, aggravated by the opioid crisis. 2 In addition, as the baby boom population ages, more people in the U.S.—and all over the world—are living with age-related disabilities and chronic disease, placing pressure on health care systems to respond.

Timely and accessible health care could mitigate many of these challenges, but the U.S. health care system falls short, failing to deliver indicated services reliably to all who could benefit. 3 In particular, poor access to primary care has contributed to inadequate prevention and management of chronic diseases, delayed diagnoses, incomplete adherence to treatments, wasteful overuse of drugs and technologies, and coordination and safety problems.

So please, do me a favour. If you want to bankrupt the sick and kill the poor, dont use us as justification.

You are confused.

Insurance is voluntary and you are putting yourself in a pool of paying customers where the premiums reflect the risk. You don't pay the premiums you don't get the coverage. You buy the policy that gives you the protection against risk that you need.

Much different than a filthy ass socialist program where it is mandatory, poorly run by the government, tremendous cost to tax payers and you get health care whether you pay for it or not. That is just wrong.

Are you really so dense as to think that the government provides good services? I didn't think anybody was that dumb. No fucking bureaucrat or politician gives a shit about you. If you think they do then you are one naive little puppy. Just see what kind of treatment you get if the budget runs short. Everybody in a voting block bigger than the one you are in will get treatment before you do.

First of all, there is NOTHING more absolutely dense than the ignorance between the ears of a bed wetting libturd, and there is absolutely ZERO "thinking" happening in their skulls. These are the dumbest mother fuckers on the planet.

Like the sort of piece of shit that believes they're saving the fuckin planet by driving slow in the fast lane, to keep everyone else from burning more fuel than they should be by going the speed limit or slightly higher. These assholes reduce the quality of life for the rest of us because they're totally consumed with stupid.

Anyone who has dealt with the VA can testify that the quality of the "free" service they provide is generally piss poor.

That's the standard....

Piss poor.

There are some who are perfectly content with it, they're either getting above standard service for one reason or another, while most people are stuck with your average piss poor and just deal with it and there are those who get even less quality service if they get any at all and THEY DIE.

THEY'RE DEAD NOW.

They served the country, survived COMBAT, you know, mother fuckers shooting at them, launching mortars at them, trying to blow them up any way possible. They survived THAT only to die waiting for government benefits THEY EARNED.

If something is "free" it's either worthless, or there is a reason someone wants to "give it away". No one gives away anything of value unless there is something coming back in return.

Period, and the least charitable fuckers on earth are these sniveling, servile, bed wetting, mindless, stupid mother fucking pieces of shit we call "liberals".

As bad as the VA system is a national single payer health care system in the US would be even worse.

It would be just like public schools.

Public education is terrible in the US. It cost a ton of money and produces dismal results and anybody that can afford to do so will opt out and send their kids to a private school even though they are the ones paying for the public schools.

Socialized medicine in the US would produce a high cost and poorly managed system that the welfare queens would use and anybody that could afford to go to a real doctor would do so even thought they were taxed to pay for the poor system.

Terrible idea.

These Moon Bats love the idea of free health care because they think that just because they are alive they are entitled to have somebody else pay for their health care. Despicable, isn't it?

If the empire can not even provide adequate service to a fraction of the people, those who signed up to block bullets....

Stated differently, UHC effectively means the USA would add somewhere between 25-30 million uninsured people into our health care system, with no additional caregivers or facilities. Of course there's going to be access problems, how could there not be? Of course there's going to be people dying while waiting for treatments, how could there not be? Of course there would have to be some kind of a board or panel that is going to decide what the criteria are for who gets what treatment and who doesn't. [I.E., a death panel.] And if you're going to drastically reduce the pay for the caregivers and limit the prices on drugs, what do you think the consequences will be? Fewer caregivers in the future and fewer innovative new drugs coming online.

And then there's the additional costs of UHC. You know how those great and wonderful social democracies pay for their UHC? Higher taxes, ON EVERYBODY, not just the rich. Most of them require a VAT tax around 25%, try selling that to the voters.

Who in their right mind would want to put something as important as health care in the hands of stupid bureaucrats, whose bosses are filthy corrupt politicians elected by special interest groups?

If you get something for "free" don't expect much.

I would much rather put my health care in the hands of people trying to make a profit by producing a good product at a competitive price, just like other goods and services.
How is it "free"?

It is not free. That is why I put it in quotations.

It is like the filthy ass government takes your money and then you get whatever the bureaucrats decide to give you. If you are a dumbass Liberal you think it is free because you don't have to pay when you get the treatment. However, you pay up your ass through taxes.

You are really an idiot to give the filthy government your money expecting to get good health care in return. It ain't gonna happen. Just like other government services that suck.

Yep. I know. You have insurance for whichever hospital in the prefecture you live. Further the hospitals partner with the universities so the little towns have a very, very hard time getting doctors and nursing staff.

Every system has its problems.
Making the blanket statement that government servces are bad and commercially-run services are good is just wrong.

But this is not what foreigners tell Americans, see. They lecture and condescend to us about how wonderful and even moral their system is and how amoral ours is.

Though to be fair, with the increased troubles of the NHS, their posturing has calmed down a bit--thank GOD.

No, it would be worse. Public education is limited in how bad it is because not EVERY citizen needs it. It varies from actually very good to truly horrendous.

But if EVERY citizen had to use it, then it truly would be the DMV and worse. For your most delicate health needs. Think on that, Americans.
