...and watch the Wingnuts of the GOP further make idiots out of themselves:

Sure, Democrats had some spokespeople wandering around Tampa, Fla. But Republicans plan to bracket Democrats’ Charlotte, N.C., convention with an unprecedented counter-convention right outside the gates of the Time Warner Cable Arena, where Democrats will gather after Labor Day.

As many as 50 “communicators” will travel straight from the Republican convention, which wrapped up Tuesday in Tampa, up to Charlotte, where Democrats kick off their convention in earnest on Tuesday, according to a plan provided to ABC News.

Primetime speakers from the Republican event who will travel up to Charlotte include RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, and Govs. Nikki Haley of South Carolina and Mary Fallin of Oklahoma. They’ll hone in on a theme – “Obama Isn’t Working” – and offer rapid response, daily videos to counter the Democrats’ message.

It will be an effort full of gimmicks, including a Romney-Ryan NASCAR race car – number 12 for 2012, of course.

And while Democrats have happily made light of Mitt Romney’s “Etch A Sketch” foible, Republicans will bring their own toys, including “You Build It” Legos and “You Build It” Monopoly.

So how many cons on here really think those little gimmicks are actually gonna work?

Update: The DNC points out they had a robust counter-convention of their own. In no particular order, according to a DNC official, getting the Democratic message out at the Republican convention they had a plane, a satellite truck, an office steps from the perimeter, full campaign support, 40 staffers, four press conferences, the Democratic National Committee chair, the Democratic Governor’s Association Chair, a senator, a governor, house members, and bus tours in three states.

Each party should let the opposing party have their convention in peace.

The Republicans are retaliating. The Dems broke protocol first. What happened was the RNC overheard the Secret Service talking about Biden's trip to Tampa and flipped.

You don't do that. But the Dems did.

The RNC weren't going to take the DNC's shit. Obviously made good their promise.

I'll get the link. I think I read it at Buzzfeed.

RNC Chair: Bring On Biden

Priebus brings the “brass knuckles.” Secret Service agents overheard discussing Biden's trip on a flight to Tampa.
Zeke Miller BuzzFeed Staff

TAMPA, Florida — Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said the GOP will respond tenfold to any Democratic efforts to upstage the party's national convention, amid reports that Vice President Joe Biden will visit Tampa next week.

"I think it's pretty common among parties to play with each other's conventions, and we'll have a pretty big presence in Charlotte as well," Priebus said. "The nice thing about going first is that whatever they do to us, we can do ten times over to them."

Does that mean that Romney may counter-program the Democratic convention in Charlotte next month? Priebus replied "You never know where we are going to be."

"I'm a big believer in: if they punch us, we put on the brass knuckles and punch back," he added.

Asked if he has a message for Biden on his visit to Tampa during the GOP convention, Priebus quipped: "It wouldn't matter, because if I had a message for Joe Biden, he's not capable of staying on message, so it doesn't matter."

Word of Biden's visit apparently leaked when Secret Service agents were overheard discussing the trip on a flight full of Republicans en route to Tampa.

An Obama campaign spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Biden's visit.

UPDATE: The Obama campaign confirms that Biden will stop in the Tampa area early next week as part of a two-day swing through Florida.

It's time for each party to grow up and have some class. Let each other have their week in the sun to show their wares.

They should, of course, but the DNC set the precedent. If the RNC counter convention gets better press, who's to blame?

No. They don't want to be mistaken for Democrats.

I know what they did, but the GOP has to be the better party and play stupid childish games. It doesn't help the GOP.

The Democrats aren't worried. If you don't spend your convention lying and pouting, you don't have to worry about people reporting on it.

The Democrats are going to run a positive convention, and I think that's what has the Republicans so worried, knowing that their overwhelmingly negative convention is going to look so bad in comparison. So Republicans will try again to drag things into the mud, but the Democrats won't take the bait, and that will enrage the Republicans more.

With respect, I beg to differ.

In the past it has been the high road. Then came along Team Obama in 2008. Candidate McCain played nice in the sandbox while Team Obama played down and dirty. Teams of lawyers flying into Alaska to get any bit of dirt that they could get on Palin just for starters.

Smear campaigns. Whisper campaigns. Now and then.

Gottcha media in the Obama's teams corner.

Where did playing nice in the sandbox get us?

This year Team Obama has really played dirty politics. The DNC planning on sending Biden to Tampa is unheard of.

Paybacks a bitch.

It's time to take the gloves off, put on the brass knuckles because we are in the fight of our lives.

No more Mr. Nice Guy.

That will be a first, that might make it worth watching, however I think they will blame the GOP for everything under the sun. They really have accomplished nothing the last four years.

If it's going to be such a swell convention focusing on the positive aspects of Obama's handling of the economy, unemployment and the Afghan war why oh why are the Dems having to ship in people on buses to make sure the stadium is full for Obama's speech?
