Bring back the Cold War?.....Will GOP squash arms treaty?

With nuclear weapons, it is not the quantities as much as the capability to deliver them to intended targets with a high probability and precision.

Puppet dictators like Ahmadinijad and Kim may eventually gain a nuclear weapon NK has nukes, and Iran has a missle that can reach Israel.but they lack the capability to reliably deliver them. 1500 US weapons available to respond to a single warhead is more than enough firepower.

Just b/c they can't reach us does not mean we should dissarm. Iran and NK have no reason to follow the treaty. We are infedels to Iran, so they are free to lie to us. NK is a total dictatorship, thier people will never know what's going on or be help accountable.

If Iran or N Korea will not follow a treaty what ....difference does it make if we have 1500 or 15,000 warheads?

We are no safer either way

The treaty is with Russia, the only country capable of exchanging nukes with the US. All the other puppets could be easily whiped out by either one of us without retalliation

While Putin is little more than a thug, theres no reason for any treaty with them. If we want to reduce the number of nukes we have, we can do so w/o giving that thug an international stage.

Hell, we can do it and say; "See what great people we are. We led the way to dissarming. Now which one of you other countries is man enough to do the same?"

and don't think for one moment that Iran won't choose mass martyrdom. I know that sounds paranoid, but I think it would be better to be proven wrong and have had the nukes, than right and not have them.

1. how does this treaty benefit the us?

2. how does not passing it bring back the cold war? the cold war ended without the treaty....seems dumb to claim that without a treaty now....the cold war will come back....

care to try rightwinger....or do the questions scare you?

Feeling lonely and ignored? OK I'll answer

Nukes cost money. They cost money to build, money to safeguard, money to maintain secrecy. Nuclear platforms cost money, Subs, missiles, aircraft, crews, maintenance, upgrades all for weapons systems that haven't been used in 65 years. We have better uses of our military dollar

Do 3000 nukes keep us any safer than 1500 nukes? Having less nukes in the world makes everyone safer. If we keep a certain number of warheads, the Russians have to keep an equivalent number. All for systems neither intends to use.

The Russians understand this....the Republicans obviously don't

So why are the Russians upgrading their nuclear capabilities?
If you think defense is expensive, try capitulation.

They will try. We haven't started a war in a few years. The GOP will need to do it before the Bagger Palin has her chance.

Thanks for acknowledging that Palin will be the next POTUS. Who said you wouldn't know reality if it bit you?

you didn't answer teh second part...:eusa_whistle:

The Cold War lead to mutually assured destruction (MAD) and an escallation of warheads and delivery platforms. Since neither party wants to unilaterally disarm, it is necessary to hae treaties to bring down the number of cold war level warheads.

that doesn't bring back the cold war

you still haven't addressed how not passing the treaty brings back cold war...you made the claim...but can't back it up...it makes zero sense because we are not in the cold war now and to claim that if we don't pass some treaty we necessarily will automatically go back to the cold war
