Breeding Hatred For America By Americans

It's what happens when a nation turns away from God.

Ya..."god" has been a real peach! What all those god fearin white guys did to the natives in the Americas was ALL GOOD!! Praise the LORD!!!!

I think it is safe to say that pushing god on others hasn't really worked out well for MILLIONS of human beings.

It's what happens when you have a political party that's 90% of one race and one religion all have a similar view on education and science. It's not a secret and it's not something that can be denied. That lack of diversity breeds hatred.
This post by rdean is exactly what the thread title and the OP is talking about.

Just pure unadulterated hatred for other Americans. :doubt:

Everyone must be thinking these days, what's wrong with this country.

I can put a finger on the problem immediately. Our media. I'm not talking just about the news, but TV programs, commercials, comedy shows, movies, kids shows, everything is skillfully being geared toward thinking the worst of the country we live in.

The root of the problem is a prevailing belief that America is a bad country. Having lived in several others I can say this isn't true. I've lived in better and much worse. Much, much worse. But you wouldn't know that if you had never left the confines of our shores.

Everything we feel about America is a byproduct of our media sources. They have a huge impact on our national mood. I seriously doubt there is anyone right now that is happy with the direction this country is going. Watching the Republican primary we see candidates making up lies about each other and tearing each other down. We see a president that we can't trust, that supports anarchy in the streets, and seems to think the constitution is just something to be ignored.

Just as an example, look at the nominations for Oscars this year. How many uplifting pictures got any recognition? Well, one that is purported to be so only pulled in $20 million. "The Artist". Another "Moneyball" tells the story of how a penny-pinching owner forced a general manager to come up with a new way of picking winners without paying them for it. The favorite this year appears to be "The Help". A story about racism that is long past, but for some reason Hollywood feels we need constant reminders of.

Every once in awhile I see something that is uplifting. Something positive. But it's being drowned out by all of the negativity that constantly surrounds us. The only folks that seem to be enjoying this are folks that aren't really good people.

I don't expect much of a discussion about this because unless the media is talking about it nobody else will.

I'm just curious what countries have you been to that are better than here? because I have not seen one yet.

Germany and Singapore.

The quality of life there is quite a bit better. Nice thing about it is they've already been through the mess we're going through now, and worse, and now they've learned their lesson.

Singapore is a strict society but the people are very happy.

Germany is beautiful, the people there have pride in their country, their community, and their city. Most Germans don't have to be told how to act, or how to live. They don't have stores open 24/7 and they don't have huge refrigerators, so they have to go to the store daily or every other day. Their food is much more healthy, and they have a national health program that the folks participate in. It's not just some bitch telling them what to eat.

Now those natives own most of the casinos out West.

Neither have I and I spent 20 years in the military traveling all over the world.

Most of the places I went were shit-holes.

Ya ...you are right. That is a fair trade for about 500 years of Christan sponsored genocide. I don't know what I was thinking.

I been to Germany, I could understand why you would say that is better I do like German women and the beer, however I dont know about Singapore, I never been there but isn't that country under strict Islamic law where they cane people, I don't think I could live there.

They cane people. However it's not Islamic fundimentalist, which means the rejection of technology. It's the cleanest city I've ever seen. Everyone seems to be well taken care of. Spitting on the sidewalk is a serious offense.

I didn't stay there long enough to learn everything about it however. I lived in Germany on the economy. It was great.

I only been to Germany a few times going back Stateside from deployments but I have served with a few people who lived in Germany and they absolutely loved it, a friend of mine separated from the Military and got a job with the US Army as a civilian and went back there to live.

What does religion have to do with our push West???

Manifest destiny is a largely Christian based concept.

I think it had more to do with government programs like the homesteading law.

People saw an opportunity to grab something for themselves and build a future. Once settlers started bumping into native disputes surfaced. Folks on both sides got killed and the Army was called in after the Civil War to bring security to the West. By the turn of the century Native Americans had been forced onto Reservations, thousands of them killed, Buffalo their primary food source almost totally decimated.

The rape and murder of the native inhabitants of South America and the West Indies was done under the pretense of converting "the savages" to Christianity.

Happy to see that Act of Valor features active duty SEALs. I would imagine that the editors must have spent a lot of time removing the smirks from their faces when the "star" does something heroic.

UP was nominated for best picture not long ago. Not uplifting enough for you?

There must be a lot of hatred in Japan then huh? Idiot.

You're right. There is. You think you're being funny, but it's true, Japan has a problem with race.

You're a true fucking idiot, you ignorant shit.

Depends on what you consider uplifting. "UP" is a downer. (If we're talking about the same movie) An old widower goes on a search for some place in South America by attaching hundreds of helium balloons to his house. It got a 98% at Rotten Tomatoes. If you want to see an uplifting film see "Rio" instead. Up was depressing to me. Rio was entertaining, yet only received a 71% freshness from Rotten Tomatoes. Why? Beats me.

The TWO MINUTES HATE arrived in the late 1990's; 9/11, Iraq and the destruction of NO added to it.
