Hopefully he will fade away now.

NFL reaches financial settlement with Colin Kaepernick, Eric Reid

The league and Kaepernick’s attorneys released a statement Friday saying the matter had been resolved confidentially. As part of that confidentiality, it is believed both sides signed a non-disclosure agreement agreeing not to speak publicly about details of the case or settlement.

“For the past several months, counsel for Mr. Kaepernick and Mr. Reid have engaged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL,” the statement said. “As a result of those discussions, the parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances. The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement so there will be no further comment by any party.”

Hopefully owners will just let this die, and not stir shit back up by bringing this punk back in the league.

Look at it this way, had this went to trial regardless of the outcome it would have been appealed and re-appealed, and this could have dragged out for years and the NFL would have continued to be connected to Kaphisdick and this issue.
By settling, they likely did not admit any wrongdoing, and now can wipe their hands free of the shitstorm.
It likely cost them millions, but they probably figured in the long run they are better off.

As long as some dumbass owner doesn't reignite the issue by signing him, we can move on, and put an end to the kneelers.

We need to also remember that Kaepernick turned down at least 2 offers of contracts. So he likely would have lost in the end, but as has been pointed out by Drifter, the appeals would have dragged on for years. Better to end it and Kaepeenick goes away. He'll never get signed by any team anyway.

It's unfortunate for him as he seems to believe in his Cause. The workplace isn't where he should be speaking his gospel.

I don't know how good he was, maybe a backup or not even, but, he sabotaged his career, the NFL Commissioner didn't do him any favors by not sitting him down and convincing him otherwise. I respect that he stood behind his beliefs even if I don't agree with him or his methodology.

In the end, what a way to waste any talent he might have had and years of working hard to get there.

Jawohl! Put an end to dissent everywhere! That's the prime directive, isn't it.

Here's some porn for ya.

Looky there. Everyone looks exactly the same, all in a nice row, everybody in line and no uppities. Wipe your mouth now.

Jawohl! Put an end to dissent everywhere! That's the prime directive, isn't it.

Look dumbshit, the NFL is for entertainment, if I want a lesson in scowling liberalism I'll turn it to MSNBC.

No apparently it's for Butthurt, seeing as how you're sitting on message boards wetting your pants about events you can't even see and wouldn't even know existed had not some blog told you what lines to parrot.

You DO know the NFL NA isn't part of the broadcast --- right? Or have you ever even seen an NFL game at all? Your fake outrage is as transparent as a new pane of glass.

A big big step for Kapaernick's rising star

Not neceesarily at all. This being settled can now mean that we will see this issue fade away, or at least go someplace else and not in sports entertainment.
Nah Nike's not going to let their cash cow go away. Anytime anything controversial happens in sports Kaps going to be there. Especially since across all sports so many players, coaches, fans, and maybe even some owners support him.

He's got a good 4-5 years of usefulness for some and then he will fade into the sunset as a new generation won't know or care who the hell he is.

Society moves fast and they are fickle.

Nah he'll be around a while. You all have made him too famous.

Indeed, if not for this very board I would have never heard of him.

Much like nobody knew he was sitting out the NA until some reporter who himself should have been standing for the NA (else he's a hypocrite) snapped his picture sitting on the bench and figured he could go milk a story out of it.

Manufactured 'outrage'. And they say America doesn't make anything any more.
