Breaking CNN: Hillary Brokers Cease Fire

Looks like Israel had enough blood-letting for now. Nice job brokering peace Hillary. Good form President Obama.

Cease-fire reached between Israel and Hamas

JERUSALEM -- A cease-fire between Israel and Hamas was announced on Wednesday after days of bloody fighting and deaths on both sides.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr said the cease-fire will be effective at 2 p.m. ET.

The announcement came after furious negotiations between diplomats including Clinton who has been in Cairo for talks with Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi, who has been acting as a mediator between the two groups.

Hillary Clinton is en route to the Middle East to join efforts to secure a cease-fire betweenIsrael and Hamas.

For the past six days, Israel has been firing missiles into the Gaza Strip in an offensive aimed at stopping rocket fire from militants inside the Hamas-ruled Palestinian territory.

More from GlobalPost: Trapped in Gaza

The tit-for-tat rocket fire has killed more than 100 Palestinians — many of them civilians — and three Israelis, and wounded hundreds more.

Secretary of State Clinton is expected to arrive in Israel on Tuesday night and meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday, the Jerusalem Post reported, citing a source.

President Barack Obama sent Clinton from Cambodia, where she had joined the president for meetings with Asian leaders.

The White House said that aside from her meeting with Netanyahu in Jerusalem, Clinton would meet with Palestinian officials in Ramallah and Egyptian leaders in Cairo, according to the Associated Press.

Talks are already under way in Cairo involving UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Arab League chief Nabil Elaraby.

Ban on Tuesday called for an immediate cease-fire, and warned that while Israel has “legitimate security concerns” a ground operation — would be a “dangerous escalation” that would “only result in further tragedy.”

He before adding that

Ban spoke at a news conference in Cairo after talks with . Later on Tuesday, the UN secretary-general will travel to Israel for talks with Netanyahu.

Actually it's because of the Egyptian president, but you clowns think what you want.

And would that be the Egyptian president every 'nut on this board has been trashing since he won election?

that Egyptian president?

Mursi secured aid & credits from countries and institutions.
He needs US aid unlocked in Congress, Egypt has short-term financial problems, tourism is an important income for Egypt and it has plumpeted.

What's this all about with "Gaza truce" we'll see in future and what effects it has on Mursi within Egypt.
Not that they hang him in Tahrir.

Yesterday a troll, today a mainstream GOPer, JakeStarkey...:lol::lol:

Hey dumbass, I'm not even a Republican and posted that numerous times. Nor was Romney my first choice.

You just keep up making it up as you mutter around in the dense fog that's in your head.

Cease fires in the middle east have proven to be pointless for generations now. This will be no different. Question is how long will it last..a week, a month, longer?

Oh but Hillary brokered it so we should all fall all over ourselves just heaping praise on her. :doubt: How soon we forget her negligence in ramping up security in Lybia on 9/11.

Hillary Clinton and the Obama Administration does it again.

Thanks to the good, hard work of Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, the recent fighting in the Gaza Strip....is OVER!!!

All these years while she sat on her fat ass we could have used her to help peace break out all over the world.

What a pity. Who would have "thunk" it?

Very disappointing. Clearly, Netanyahu is not the leader Israel needs at this time, still he remains the best of what's available.
