    Only a very small percentage of Confederate people in the south owned slaves.

    So they either farmed themselves or hired workers.

    Some of us find it refreshing that there were Confederates who never pledged alliegnace to the union jack! We should all have been so lucky.

    When this man left his home to be a sniper, he gave his house to his slaves. Union troops came and burned them out. A lot of people in southwestern KY turned Confederate because or this type of occurrence.
