John McEnroe: Serena Williams would be ranked 'like 700' on ATP tour

Is there a woman on the planet who could legitimately make an NBA roster? A Division 1 NCAA basketball starting 5? Of course not.

Is there a woman who could make an MLB roster? An NFL team? Is there any woman who could defeat a professional boxer in the same weightclass? A D-1 wrestler?

At every relevant distance, American boys high school track records are superior to the womens' world records. The same is true for swimming, where there is no advantage to being bigger.

And yet, people have the ludicrous belief that Serena Williams would somehow be competitive with top men professional tennis players. Straight up.

Incredible.

Oh shove it...

17-year-old homecoming queen kicks game-winning field goal

Soon after 17-year old Kaylee Foster was crowned high school homecoming queen in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, she took off her tiara and put on helmet No. 15. In the homecoming game, as place kicker, she scored two field goals.

But the team needed more. With the game tied in overtime it all depended on Kaylee and one more kick.

Guess what?

Women are not as big and strong as men
Is that a mystery to you?

Women’s track and swimming records are higher than men’s times from the 1930s
Average women have 55% of the upper body strength of the average man.

Our bodies are different.

It's why men are better at pole vault and weight lifting and things that require upper body strength.

But from the waist down, men and women are much closer in strength and endurance. Which is why marathon running, speed skating and other leg centered athletics are much closer in times and percentages.

Them's the facts.

Women’s pole vault record is 16 feet 7 inches
Beats men’s records from the 1950s

Men and women are different, nobody argues that.

Is there any man who can do the uneven parallel bars as well as collegiate female gymnasts? Can any man give birth?

What’s the point?

Men are bigger and stronger than women
But women are matching the world records of men from a generation ago

No, not really. Men are faster runners than women...partially because men tend to simply be TALLER.

Height is no advantage to a runner. Name the distance where taller runners prevail.

My point was about the small army of sportscasters who describe Serena as either, the greatest athlete in the world, or the best tennis player. Both are preposterous. Nowhere near reality.

Longer strides are an advantage.
