We should have never supported the rebels in either Libya or Syria in any way, shape or form. If the current administration had listened to those who really know what was most likely going to happen because of the vacuum created we would have supported Assad and Qaddafi (yeah there are those who foresaw the rise of an ISIL type group and the chaos that allows terrorism to thrive). It probably wouldn't have made them open air friends but it would have gone a long way to maintaining at least some stability in the region and they would have been less hostile to us not to mention ISIS/ISIL would have been contained within Iraq and easily controlled.
