The logic is rather simple.

Sexual orientation is not a choice, pedophilia is a sexual orientation, therefore they do not have a choice, and actually deserve our sympathy.

Since sexual orientation cannot, at this point, be proven to not be a choice, I have no sympathy for any pedophile.

It's not easy to listen to Terry talk about the time he had sex with a seven-year-old girl. But after his psychotherapist put us in touch, he agreed to lay it all out for me during a phone call and email, and I was enthralled the way one might stare at a man falling from a bridge. The one niece was a baby, but the other was seven, and it wasn't long before Terry, addicted and in a marriage he calls "abusive," fell for his niece and began a sexual relationship with her. It started with him walking around the house naked with an erection, making sure to amble past the little girl and inspire her curiosity. After doing that a couple times, Terry began to masturbate with the door open. When his niece would come to watch, Terry would tell her that what they were doing was a secret that she couldn't tell anyone. "In my mind, I had the thought that I would never hurt her and that she would grow up trusting me," Terry said. He says he wanted her to look up to him.
The third time Terry masturbated in front of his niece, he did it while she was in the room, and he played a pornographic movie on the TV. "Do you want to try what they're doing?" he asked her, motioning to the woman riding the man onscreen. His niece said yes, and she took off her shorts before straddling him. To avoid getting too graphic, Terry said he knew almost immediately that he was going to injure the girl if he went any further—"she was so small," is how he puts it. "That's when the reality clicked in and I grabbed her and lifted her off of me and sat her next to me on the couch," he says. "I got up and walked out of the room saying, ‘Lord, what am I doing! Lord, forgive me for what I have done!'"

The entire premise is flawed to begin with. Just because we are born with a certain inclination doesnt mean its good to act out on it. Natural does not equal good. Some natural things can be good. Some are clearly bad.

It's quite natural to be violent. Does that mean we should act out on violent inclinations or should we be mature adults and try to coexist with one another?

It's natural to be intolerant of things that are different. Does that mean we should just the accept the "fact" that different people are just evil and have no value? Or should we try to overcome this natural instinct and love others, including our so called enemies?

It's natural to hate, to be apathetic, to get angry, does that mean we should give into these inclinations or try to live a better life?

It's natural to lie when we are caught in a situation that makes us look bad or may cause physical or emotional pain. Does that mean we should give into our inclination to lie, or strive to be honest honorable people?

It's natural to want to take out a gun and take out some rude people who cut you off while you're driving. Does that mean we shouldn't show some restraint?

It's natural to urinate and deficate, does that mean we should do it whever we can, or instead, do so in appropriate fascilities?

It's natural to call people stupid on internet message boards, does that mean we should or that we should strive for a higher level of discourse?

It's natural to exercise unrighteous dominion over others. Does that mean we should all become tyrants or that we should try to control ourselves and allow liberty for all including ourselves?

The Scriptures teach us that the natural man is in a Fallen State. We have been Fallen beings since our First Parents left the Garden of Eden. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came in the Meridian of Time to Redeem us from this Fallen State. He gave us counsel and comandments that are counterintuitive to our Fallen States. This guidence gives us something to strive for above and beyond our natural inclinations. And He Atoned for our sins and provided a means by which we can repent and be Born again. Through This process we can put off the natural man and become a Saint by yeilding to the enticing of the Holy Spirit and doing things that are good, yet contrary to our Fallen State.

The Atonement of Jesus Christ has the power to change human nature. And changed men change the world.

Terry knew what he was doing was wrong, he knew he would harm the child and stopped himself before it went any further.
How many other pedophiles would do that? How many other freaks would actually care whether they hurt their victim? He stopped himself and walked away, and that is a good thing.

Whether they ‘need sympathy’ or not is irrelevant, as there was nothing in the article advocating pedophiles not be punished for their crimes.

Pedophilia is likely a naturally occurring phenomenon; this does not, however, mitigate the crime, nor shield the criminal from prosecution and punishment to the fullest extent of the law.

Pedophilia is, most likely, a natural state for those that are afflicted with it. The repeat rate of offenders actually strengthens this argument. The reality is that, though it may be a natural inclination, acts are what matters and it is those acts that define a criminal. Just because you feel a certain way does not mean it is legal nor does it mean we should give you a pass or even go easy on you. Pedophiles should be prosecuted to the absolute fullest of the law and they should never, EVER, see the light of day again (at least in the serious cases as the term is not wholly defined in any standard measure).

To equate this with orientation is rather asinine though because, in the instance of pedophiles, one is violating the rights of others (the child) and harming them in an extremely terrible fashion. Such harm is bore for an entire lifetime. In the other case (orientation) no harm to anyone is experienced whatsoever. The relationships are consensual and they violate no one’s rights.

...At the same time, a small, radical organization, B4U-ACT, is lobbying under the radar to convince the American Psychiatric Association (APA) - publisher of the bible for identifying abnormal behaviors, the Diagnostic&StatisticalManualofMental Disorders (DSM) -to declare that pedophilia should not be included in the list of abnormal behaviors.

Members of the APA need to listen to the public outcry and disregard members of B4U-ACT. B4U-ACT is a small group of mental health professionals and pedophile activists who seek greater tolerance for “minor-attracted persons” (pedophiles). Indeed, those involved in the lobbying want to decriminalize, even normalize, pedophilia. They are working to change public perceptions so that raping children is acceptable behavior. Among the academics lending respectability to these efforts by speaking at the recent conference in Baltimore were researchers from Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University and the universities of Louisville and Illinois. The fringe activists promise to disrupt future meetings of the APA until they are successful in normalizing pedophilia, a strategy successfully employed in the 1970s to get homosexuality removed from the DSM - not because of new scientific evidence, but because of political pressure by a small group of activists. I do think some pedophiles are simply born that way, and it should IMO be labeled a mental disorder and they should be locked up until cured. However, I believe a vast majority of pedophiles were sexually abused as children, and it alters how their brain processes sexual imagery.
