Born In the USA

A solemn thought for Independence Day. For those who have returned and subsequently been forgotten or overlooked.

Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man says "Son if it was up to me"
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said "Son, don't you understand"

I had a brother at Khe Sahn fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go

Born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a long gone Daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A.
I'm a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A.

Good point---it's a great day to remember what our vets have gone thru and how they have been mistreated by many upon their return--may it never happen again !

These the ones you just called druggies in another thread?

You are missing the entire point. As usual. :poop:

How fitting - a liberal posting lyrics from an even bigger Lib... :p

"WAR! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!

A lame quote indeed...

I dunno - what IS War good for? Gee... why not try asking:

1. The USA after winning its independance
2. Ask the South Koreans
3. Ask France and the rest of Europe after we bailed their asses outta Hitler's terror

I could go on, but doing so would belabor the point...

the Tom Cruise movie.."Born on the 4th of july? Tom is a flake as is G84...Most if not all real Vietnam vet's laugh at his portrayal of VN vets..
Most if not all relate to Colonel Moore's portrayal in the Movie..."We were soldiers" now Mel Gibson got it right...enough said! :salute:

The left has created their own version of history simply by perpetuating a lie over a long enough period of time.

I prefer:

Fat man sitting on a little stool
Takes the money from my hand while his eyes take a walk all over you
Hands me the ticket smiles and whispers good luck
Cuddle up angel cuddle up my little dove
We’ll ride down baby into this tunnel of love

I can feel the soft silk of your blouse
And them soft thrills in our little fun house
Then the lights go out and it’s just the three of us
You me and all that stuff we’re so scared of
Gotta ride down baby into this tunnel of love

There’s a crazy mirror showing us both in 5-d
I’m laughing at you you’re laughing at me
There’s a room of shadows that gets so dark brother
It’s easy for two people to lose each other in this tunnel of love

It ought to be easy ought to be simple enough
Man meets woman and they fall in love
But the house is haunted and the ride gets rough
And you’ve got to learn to live with what you can’t rise above if you want to ride on down in through this tunnel of love
-------
Much better song.

Of course, let's not forget that the Left was very fond of calling our fightin' men and women "baby killers", remember that? If you watch any movies from the 1970s, Vietnam vets are almost always represented negatively (crazy, anti-social, drugged up, or just plain ol' blood and guts obnoxious).....

Let's not forget that the Vietnam War probably was prolonged by the antics of the anti-war crowd and, thanks to them, demoralized the soldiers that went there. Remember, Hanoi Jane and of course, John Kerry's testimony before Congress, both which were used as propaganda against our own service men.

How about that line "killing the yellow man"? Well. After we left in 1975, the Vietnamese Communist Killing Machine went into overdrive. Hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese were killed, beaten, tortured and sent to "re-education camps". Let's not forget Pol Pot in neighboring Cambodia, who alone killed 2 million of his own people with the help of his pals, the Khmer Rouge. Yes, we may have napalmed, and agent oranged our way into infamy,
but for some reason all that hard work by the Vietnamese Communists has gone un-noticed and un-appreciated. It doesn't seem fair does it?

After all, the Vietnamese Communists killed more people that our soldiers ever did by a factor of about what 10 to 1? 100 to 1? Well, that all goes to show you that when you have the Main Stream Media covering every move you make and reporting all the nasty stuff you do to the people at home, it makes you seem bigger than life.

Too bad the Vietnamese Communists didn't have Uncle Walter and the Network News crowd covering them. Why if they did, I'm sure they would have made it onto the evening news.... no? well, maybe into the history books,then..... wrong again? Gee, I guess those Vietnamese Communists just didn't get the credit they deserved, did they?

By the way.... don't forget, Stalin also killed more people than Hitler... but he doesn't get the credit either..... gee... it must suck being a commie, all that killing and no one notices!

Did I miss the point?
