MADRID, Spain (CNN) -- A document published months before national elections reveals al Qaeda planned to separate Spain from its allies by carrying out terror attacks.

A December posting on a Internet message board used by al Qaeda and its sympathizers and obtained by CNN, spells out a plan to topple the pro-U.S. government.

"We think the Spanish government will not stand more than two blows, or three at the most, before it will be forced to withdraw because of the public pressure on it," the al Qaeda document says.

"If its forces remain after these blows, the victory of the Socialist Party will be almost guaranteed -- and the withdrawal of Spanish forces will be on its campaign manifesto."

Sounds like ironclad proof.

This message board is used by socialist - left wing people...OMG! This is representative of the Communist party!
But wait! Some people talk all kinds of sh*t on this board... but it must be true, it IS a message board after all. Nobody speculates or pontificates, or orates about anything. They just explain how things REALLY are. We should get all our news leads from internet message boards, we'd know everything going on in the world in just a few days!

I guess you just aren't bright enough to follow the news, this has been discussed in quite a few places. So sad.

Your surpised at my low IQ? LOL! Anyhow, discussing something a few places does make it true, I'm not denying that. It's just a little fishy saying you've obtained an official document from a message board. If that's proof, why are the theories involving

*Islamic fundamentalists with support from ETA.
or
* Islamic fundamentalists with close ties to al Qaeda, although not necessarily "card-carrying members of al Qaeda."
or
* Members of ETA or al Qaeda

I mean isn't wrapped up yet? They have the document!

Care to type in English next time?

Did you ever think perhaps that government intelligence looked into the credibility of the messages or not? They claim to have knowledge that this was a venue for Al Qaeda and their sympathizers. Not to mention things played out exactly like the messages stated long ago.

Anyhow, I actually would believe that it was Al-Quaeda or some militant group. It was the source I was referring to. I'm sure Islamiic terorists did this, it fits with their goals (I think) and Spain was involved in Iraq, so I agree.

However, I always wonder about news leads from sources like that. Especially ones that surface after the fact and handily explain everything away in a convenient sound byte. I'm a skeptical dude....

WHAT? Who said CNN was a message board? They got their info from a message board.
Plus, CNN is mostly speculation anyway! With some news mixed in...

And yet your original post was nothing but sarcasm and laughter at the article. Did you think you were your other ID for a minute and get confused?

I wrote:

The Spanish people did NOT support the war. Their government did.
Only Poland had it's people's support for the war (and the U.S. did... kind of).
Both Spain and Britain had to ignore the will of their 'subjects' to aid the U.S.
So Al-Qaeda didn't really change people's minds, so much as they galvanized the people who were already against the war (90% I believe) to take strong and immediate action. That letter was pretty imsulting to those people in a very sad time. And the U.S. doesn't get attacked for NO REASON. America has political misdeeds going on all over the world. People get angry after a while.

This article is not a CNN newslead from a message board. I responded with my points. So what's your point?

So what's your point?

Your first post:

But wait! Some people talk all kinds of sh*t on this board... but it must be true, it IS a message board after all.

Then you say:

Surely you can see the contradiction. You laughed at the source and then 5 minutes later agree.

This kind of confusion only happens to people that prefer to have 2 ID's on a message board.

The source is ridiculous! The idea that Al-Quaeda did this is not. What's the contradiction?

Example: If someone tells me the Sun is hot, but they say aliens told them so it must be true, I would agree the sun is hot, but not trust the source!

You may hold the source as ridiculous, but you haven't offered anything to show what has been posted since december as being anything but true. You think it was just some kid from Texas who posted it and got lucky and nailed their plans to the T? You think maybe it was Bush and it's another conspiracy?

Just how do you explain that this board has been labeled by the government to be visited by Al Qaeda and their sympathizers?

Why do you think the government and media outlets see it as credible evidence and you don't? Do you think we should dismiss what they say because you don't think it's credible?
