People helping people.

The family built a Little Free Pantry for their neighborhood with just a $40 budget and using recycled materials. After picking up an old cabinet, some wood, and paint, the family went to work with the help of Miles.

The pantry now stands next to a community garden at 30th and Jordan streets, two blocks south of State Street in Boise, for anyone in need to use.

"Take what you need, leave what you can. It's just giving. Everyone's got their times of need," Miller said.

The family keeps it stocked with canned food, baby items, and other necessities. Their neighbors also pitch in for supplies whenever they can.

The little tyke looks a bit overweight even at such a young age. Did you look at that junk? Who the hell would eat that stuff if they had two bucks for a burger? The dirty little secret is that "food pantries" are just feel good exercises for people who want to pat themselves on the back by putting a can of expired stuff that they wouldn't eat in a box and walk away. Nobody starves in the greatest Country in the world unless they choose to. Parents should be charged with neglect if it is determined that their kids suffer from malnutrition but catch phrases like "kids go to bed hungry" are just meaningless cliches when you think about it. Anybody who has ever raised a healthy kid knows that they are hungry all the time. The fact is that most of the statistical "poor" that food pantries are aimed at suffer from obesity and you can't force them to eat healthy food. I wonder if anybody checks the dumpsters after food giveaways.

Somehow it became trendy for (mostly) the American left to demean the greatest Country in the world by spreading the propaganda that "kids go to bed hungry". It clicked even with good Christians but it is a freaking lie and a fraud. There are thousands of social nets for people who are below the social standards that we consider to be poverty. Kids eat more healthy foods in school than the middle class of most European countries. How did we get to the point in history when American parents who use the social network to abuse drugs and alcohol and deprive their kids of the basics of life are rewarded with crates of food? This is insane.

That kind of argument must have been quite a hit in your 8th grade class
