Boehner is using the Pimp Hand on Obama. Obama has until Friday to get authorization from Congress for Libya, or he is in violation of the War Powers Act.

Good for Boehner. It's time to stop this illegal war, for which American Taxpayers are paying 75% of the costs.

Stepping up a simmering constitutional conflict, House Speaker John A. Boehner warned President Obama on Tuesday that unless he gets authorization from Congress for his military deployment in Libya, he will be in violation of the War Powers Resolution.

In a letter sent Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Boehner, the top Republican in the constitutional chain of succession, said Mr. Obama must provide a clear justification for committing troops to Libya by Friday. Sunday marks the 90th day since the president notified Congress that U.S. troops had been committed to help enforce a no-fly zone over Libya, which is designed to protect the rebels fighting Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s government.

In a letter sent Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Boehner, the top Republican in the constitutional chain of succession, said Mr. Obama must provide a clear justification for committing troops to Libya by Friday, which marks the 90th day since the president committed U.S. troops, and the clock started ticking under the War Powers Resolution.

“The Constitution requires the president to ‘take care that the laws be faithfully executed,’ and one of those laws is the War Powers Resolution, which requires an approving action by Congress or withdrawal within 90 days from the notification of a military operation,” Mr. Boehner said in the letter...

Good, Obama needs to follow the law of the land. You'll find that most liberals also want Obama to follow the law of the land on this and many other issues in questions.

This, of course, is in direct opposition to the neo-cons who taught us that it's treason to question the commander-in-chief during times of war...the hypocrisy of the GOP will never cease to amaze me.

Most liberals are still trying to explain why Obama hasnt started a war in Libya despite the fact that he has.

Puh-leeeze. It's a Kinetic Military Action.

To be fair, if you're going to call what's going on in Libya a "war", then we've been "at war" nonstop since the 20s.

I think Obama set the precedent when he first notified Congress and did it to be in line with the War Powers Act. He has an obligation to follow up with Congress and hasn't. He needs to keep Congress in the loop and Boehner is right to call him on it. Looking forward to what Obama does in response.

Actually, they have to vote on it - the ball is in their court, not Obama's. According to the War Powers act, Obama has to notify them - which he did. Now they have to act on it, not him. If they say vote no, he has 30 days to withdraw. If they say yes (which they certainly will), they'll continue bombing indefinitely.

Now a bipartisan group from the House are suing Obama:

A bipartisan group of House members announced on Wednesday that it is filing a lawsuit charging that President Obama made an illegal end-run around Congress when he approved U.S military action against Libya.

“With regard to the war in Libya, we believe that the law was violated. We have asked the courts to move to protect the American people from the results of these illegal policies,” said Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), who led the 10-member anti-war coalition with Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.).

The White House is expected on Wednesday to deliver to Congress a much-anticipated report detailing military activity in Libya.

According to Kucinich, the suit will challenge the Obama administration’s “circumvention of Congress and its use of international organizations such as the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to authorize the use of military force abroad.”...

Yea it's good to see some in Congress finally fighting to restore Checks & Balances. The Libyan War makes no sense. It's going to cost us a $Billion this year alone. And I still haven't seen anyone express a coherent & logical argument for us being involved with that War. Also, going to the UN & NATO for approval but not consulting the U.S. Congress was a terrible abuse of power by the President. Time for Checks & Balances to be restored. So Kudos to Boehner.

With Hillary wanting to be head of the World Bank and Obama's allegiance to a foreign coalition vs. consulting with Congress, it's clear that in our Ruling Elite's mind, we're just a state within the Global World Empire.

Welcome to the New World Order. The only question left is...Will the American People go along with it?

So the "I'm not a Washington insider" ended up being 10x more of the same? Bet you can't wait to vote for him in 2012? Meh... weird how people are.
