Boehner briefed Limbaugh on debt plan

Calling Rush Limbaugh "the media" is generous at best. Boehner is not transparent at all. He's just making sure he doesn't get out of line with Rush.

Calling him a reporter would be generous. Since he is the number 1 radio host in the entire country there is no doubt he is part of the media.

The National Enquirer is the country's highest selling newspaper. Do you consider that part of the media?

Stop making sense....its confusing.

You have a problem with him presenting his plan to the media and through the media the people?

We complain about transperancy. How politicians are doing things behind closed doors without sharing anything with the people. Boehner is transperant and now that's bad because he had the audacity to talk about his plan to the American people on the Rush Limbaugh show?

What is wrong with you people?

Rush isn't media, Rush is entertainer and that's it!

Could anyone imagine what the Right would say if Obama told Ellen DeGeneres he was going to use the 14th Amendment to raise the debt ceiling before he told anyone else!

I hate to burst your pretentious little bubble (LIE) but entertainment and media are interchangeable terms.

"Pretentious", you say? :eusa_hand: Some people take themselves way too seriously.

Boehner knows who is boss is....he needed permission

Yeah. He does know who is boss: The people.

It be nice if Obama remembered that.

"The people" Which people? Certainly not Main Street America! Otherwise, he wouldn't be telling them to shoulder all the burden of righting the economy. He could at least ask, that's what most employees do with their bosses.

I have a vague recollection about Schumer...coordinating....message...on a conf call...the LMSM media Monopoly wont remember it...oh dear...what can we do?

but he didn't brief limbaugh to tell the "media", he briefed him so he wouldn't be raked over the coals by his party's leader after the speech.
Gee.....you'd have thought Porky (in all his wisdom) would have told ol' Boner.....

We need to get a grip on information sources. Just because a leftie poster links 'THE HILL' it doesn't mean it is fact. As a matter of fact the post is based on an op-ed disguised as news by some unknown Hill writer named Alicia Conn. At least Rush is honest about being opinion based. These days we have to assume all alleged "news" os opinion based.

Makes sense to go on Limbaugh's program to get the message to the people...

Limbaugh has a HUGE listener base, both leftists and righties....

Smart move....

It is. But of course, it irritates them that Rush has such a large listening base. So they want to pretend as though there is some sort of scandal here.

Personally, I like it when politicians are open about their plans with the people.

The Barry 0bama plan remains a mystery....

Telling, isn't it?

Boehner briefed Limbaugh on debt plan - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) outlined the GOP's debt-ceiling plan to conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh on Monday before showing it to his conference.

On Monday during his radio program, Limbaugh talked about the call he received from Boehner. Limbaugh's support of the plan would be advantageous to Republicans because it might help rally the conservative base.

In a nod to the conservative anger over the fall-back proposal McConnell had put forward earlier in the month, Limbaugh said: "I'm told that Senator McConnell has been in a better position than he has been lately ... he's on the same page with Boehner now."

This isn't the first time Boehner has called Limbaugh to voice his position on the debt talks.

Boehner also phoned in to Limbaugh's show last Friday to give him the inside scoop following reports that Republican leaders and the White House were close to finalizing a deal.

Its a good thing they are keeping "Dear Leader" informed.

Boehner was informing the Republican base, not Rush. If he was dutifully informing Rush he could do that privately off air. It is useful for a party leader to reach out to a public that is unsure of a political party's progress or strategy. It is really transparency. Enough with the back-room deals and "gangs" of pricks or what have you.

As a matter of fact Rush was not happy with the speakers latest plan for a bill and said so by suggesting it was too little in cuts after the speaker had left the show. Republican leaders of both the house and the senate reach out to their base through talk radio as a conduit to get the around the obstacles presented by the media's distortion of their words, actions, and progress.

As I recall, both GWB and VP Cheney called in to Rush's show while they were both in office (GWB a half dozen times) and Cheney at least once since leaving office.

Hate the way you post but I wanted to say something agreeing with your sentiment:

It shows you just how arbitrary the GOP is being. So, if I understand it correctly, he was off by $400 Billion Dollars. So he will just go "back to the drawing board" and come up with another $400 Billion Dollars in spending he thought, a few hours before, was necessary.

Say what you want about Obama and the Dems, at least they understand that their cuts are effecting people's lives and in may cases their livelihood. The GOP just wants to cut and doesn't seem to care where. As long as it's not defense.

"Mr. Boehner was also forced to rewrite his plan after the Congressional Budget Office, the official non-partisan score-keeper in fiscal legislation, said it would generate less than the $1.2tn (£730bn) in budget savings he had initially announced."

WAY TO GO
BONER!!!!

"It’s a plan that the usually “mild-mannered” Robert Greenstein of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) is describing as “tantamount to a form of ‘class warfare’” that “if enacted, it could well produce the greatest increase in poverty and hardship produced by any law in modern U.S. history

as for the national enquirer... thank you for illustrating why it's so silly when rightwingnuts brag that fox has higher ratings than cnn or msnbc. ;)

He is the de facto part leader, why would he rake himself over the coals?
