I was talking to some of my friends with relatives up north and the unfunded infrastructure damage means tax increases are on the way. What is also on the way is proof of at least some political incompetence when bodies are found in the snow. Is there any effective way to divert D voters to other parts of Venezuela north?

Lol. Let's not turn it into a fight between the D's and the R's.

A decade ago tariffs were the liberal curse which eliminated free market competition and led to socialism. If the board still has threads from 2014 I can go get names of who said this was so.

Today tariffs are the Conservative most bestest way of protecting America from the emerging capitalism of China. I suspect we can easily hunt down threads in favor of Trump's accomplishments.

A lot of the cost of storm damage will be absorbed over time through state/federal funds.

There is no contradiction between free & fair trade and targeted tariffs against those who cheat.

Intellectual property theft is the big problem

What's the definition of cheating?

All this talk about what independent countries can and can't do seems fairly globalist btw. Almost like you are begging for America to be under a "UN" umbrella of fair trade. And I thought globalism was leftists a decade ago but now rules on countries is a righty thing.

Oh well.

Ah, so we can impose our laws on them.

International conventions
In 1980, the PRC became a member of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

It has patterned its IPR laws on the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works and the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS).https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed

The PRC acceded to the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property on 14 November 1984 and became an official member on 19 March 1985. The PRC also acceded to the Madrid Agreement for the International Registration of Trademarks in June 1989.[citation needed]

In January 1992, the PRC entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the United States government to provide copyright protection for all American "works" and for other foreign works. Several bilateral negotiations have been conducted between the two governments. At some points, trade sanctions were threatened by the two governments over IPRs issues. At the conclusion of negotiations in 1995, the Sino-US Agreement on Intellectual Property Rights was signed. In June 1996, the two governments entered into another agreement protecting American intellectual property in the PRC.
